The first rehearsals for Eurovision Asia 2026 began today in Bangkok, Thailand – get all the latest updates and first glimpses of the performances here!

Eurovision Song Contest Asia 2026 is making history with its inaugural edition, bringing together 11 countries from across the continent on one stage in Bangkok, Thailand. Ahead of the historic competition, the first rehearsals are already offering a glimpse of the performances set to take the stage, as representatives from Laos, Bhutan, Bangladesh and Cambodia unveil their staging concepts, costumes and visual elements. From Bhutan’s cultural inspiration to the modern productions of the other delegations, here is your first look at the four countries rehearsals for Eurovision Asia 2026.

Laos at Eurovision Asia 2026: First Rehearsal Details

Thinla, representing Laos with the song “BAE” (in English: “My Love”), opened the first rehearsal session of Eurovision Asia 2026 with a staging concept that differs from the performance previously presented during the national selection.

The singer is joined by at least four dancers, while a stage prop resembling a bench can also be spotted. This marks a significant change from the performance featured during the national selection, suggesting that the Laotian delegation has opted to give the song a richer and more dynamic stage presentation.

The first rehearsal footage offers a glimpse of the new choreography, although further details about the performance will only become clear as the rehearsals continue.

Bhutan at Eurovision Asia 2026: First Rehearsal Details

Nyendra, representing Bhutan with the song “Lhayi Semo” (in English: “Daughter of the Gods”), took to the stage in Bangkok wearing a Gho, the traditional national dress worn by men in Bhutan.

The performance maintains a minimalist stage presence, with the singer standing alone without dancers or backing performers. Behind him, the stage features a mountainous landscape inspired by the Himalayas, a defining natural landmark associated with his country.

The combination of traditional clothing and natural scenery gives the performance a distinct cultural identity, placing Bhutan at the center of the presentation without relying on elaborate staging elements.

Bangladesh at Eurovision Asia 2026: First Rehearsal Details

Beatmosphere, representing Bangladesh with the song “Tumi Ele” (in English: “You Came”), presented an updated stage version during the first rehearsal ahead of the competition in Bangkok.

The group appeared in new costumes, accompanied by choreography specifically designed for the Asian stage. The visual elements have also been upgraded, featuring a color palette combining black, white and red throughout the performance.

The staging gives the performance a cohesive and modern appearance while preserving the group’s defining characteristic: its combination of a cappella and beatboxing. Unlike productions that rely on elaborate sets and complex visual effects, Beatmosphere aims to keep the focus on the vocal abilities of its members.

Cambodia at Eurovision Asia 2026: First Rehearsal Details

Monetrey, representing Cambodia with the song “I Let You Go”, completed his first rehearsal in Bangkok with a performance built around a minimalist concept.

The singer performs alone on stage, wearing an outfit combining gold and black. Unlike productions filled with visual effects and elaborate graphics, his performance relies on spotlight lighting that keeps the attention firmly on the singer. The footage released so far shows no prominent LED graphics in the background.

The staging gives the song an intimate atmosphere, highlighting Monetrey’s stage presence and vocal performance. The Cambodian delegation appears to have chosen to let the music and emotion lead the performance rather than overwhelm it with visual elements.

All You Need to Know About Eurovision Asia

The Eurovision brand continues its global expansion with Eurovision Song Contest Asia, launched in collaboration with the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) to mark the 70th anniversary of the original contest. Following the American Song Contest in 2022, which was not renewed for a second season, this new chapter aims to bring the beloved Eurovision format to a new continent and reach a massive potential audience of over 600 million viewers. Unlike the American adaptation that focused on a single nation, this is a large-scale, multi-national competition. The inaugural Grand Final will take place on November 14, 2026, at the One Bangkok Forum arena in Thailand, preceded by a Preview Show on November 13. Hosted by media figures Woody Milintachinda and Cindy Bishop, this historic edition will feature 11 countries: Thailand, South Korea, Vietnam, Philippines, Bangladesh, Mongolia, Nepal, Laos, Bhutan, Malaysia, and Cambodia.

Unlike the European format, the contest in Asia operates under a centralized production model. It is produced by the international production company Voxovation in partnership with the leading Asian production company S2O. This structure subsidizes the selection process in various countries, allowing nations with limited budgets to participate. Additionally, the winning country will not automatically host the contest the following year but will instead be invited to perform as a guest artist at the traditional Eurovision. The voting system has also been adapted for the continent, based entirely on a unified, free digital platform that combines televoting with professional juries, giving unprecedented decisive power to the international audience through the “Rest of the World” voting. Furthermore, ZOOP will serve as the exclusive social partner of the event, enabling fans to take an active role in the digital experience.

Eurovision Asia 2026: The first Eurovision Asia contest will be held in Bangkok, Thailand on November 14. The host arena of the contest is the “One Bangkok Forum”, which has a capacity of about 6,000 seats. This is an official expansion project of the Eurovision brand outside the borders of Europe, launched ahead of the original contest’s 70th-anniversary celebrations.
