38 countries will participate in Eurovision 2025 in Basel, Switzerland, on May 13, 15, and 17. The list includes all 37 countries from Eurovision 2024, plus Montenegro, which returns after a two-year absence.
The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) has revealed the list of countries participating in Eurovision 2025, which includes 38 countries. This number is an increase from the 37 countries that participated in Eurovision 2024, with Montenegro returning to the competition after a two-year absence. Israel is also among the participating countries.
Non-Participating Countries
Countries which will not participate in Eurovision 2025 include Turkey, which last competed in 2012; Bosnia and Herzegovina, which last participated in 2016; Hungary, which last competed in 2019; and Russia and Belarus, which have been suspended from the EBU and have not participated since 2021 (Belarus) and 2022 (Russia). Despite rumors of a possible return, Bulgaria and North Macedonia will also not participate this year.
Deliberations on Participation
Several countries were uncertain about their participation in Eurovision 2025. The Netherlands was given an extension to decide on their participation due to dissatisfaction with the EBU’s handling of Eurovision 2024, particularly the disqualification of their representative, Joost Klein. Slovenia also deliberated on whether to register for the competition following an anti-Israeli questionnaire sent by the Slovenian broadcaster to the EBU after the events of Eurovision 2024. Other countries, such as Finland and the Czech Republic, also considered not participating for various reasons but ultimately confirmed their involvement.

Eurovision 2025: This will be Switzerland’s 65th participation in the Eurovision Song Contest. Switzerland joined the competition in 1956, being one of the seven founding countries, and has won three times over the years. Its most recent victory was at the last Eurovision in 2025, with Nemo’s song “The Code.” This win follows Switzerland’s previous victory in 1988 with the song “Ne partez pas sans moi,” performed by international singer Céline Dion.
