Australian national broadcaster, SBS, announced that Australia’s Eurovision 2025 representative will be chosen through internal selection, and opened official registration for Eurovision 2026 representation.

Australian national broadcaster SBS has announced that Australia’s representative for Eurovision 2025 will be chosen through internal selection, similar to last year’s process. The submission window for songs has closed, and the production team is now working on selecting the artist and song to represent the country in the competition to be held in Basel, Switzerland. The network stated that the official announcement of the representative and song will be made before the deadline set by the European Broadcasting Union in March 2025

Early Preparations for Eurovision 2026

Despite the closure of submissions for the current year, the national broadcaster has already opened the song submission window for Eurovision 2026, confirming Australia’s participation in Eurovision 2026. Artists and songwriters interested in applying for next year are invited to send their materials to [email protected].

Potential Return of a Former Representative

Concurrently, Guy Sebastian, who first represented Australia at Eurovision 2015 and finished fifth with the song “Tonight Again“, recently expressed interest in returning to the competition. In an interview, he stated that he would be happy to represent Australia again. However, it is currently unknown if he is the artist chosen to represent the country at Eurovision 2025.

Australia in Eurovision 2024

Australia was represented by Electric Fields with the song “One Milkali (One Blood)“. The duo performed in the first semi-final, finishing 11th with 41 points, narrowly missing qualification for the grand final.

Eurovision 2025: This will be Australia’s 10th participation in Eurovision. Australia joined the competition in 2015 and got its best result at Eurovision 2016 when singer Dami Im got second place with her song “Sound of Silence”.
