“Eurovision is a wonderful chance to highlight Ukraine’s musical DNA. The scale of the event and its wide media exposure will provide an excellent stage to showcase our artists and to demonstrate our ability to create contemporary and original European music, even under the difficult conditions of war”.

Skybinska explained. She also hinted at upcoming surprises planned for Ukraine’s national selection process, which will be revealed soon.

The Ukrainian national broadcaster has not yet disclosed how the country’s entry will be chosen for Eurovision 2026. However, Ukraine traditionally selects its representatives through the national selection show Vidbir, and it is expected that this method will be used again. Vidbir has been Ukraine’s main selection platform since 2016, the year the nation secured its second Eurovision victory with Jamala and her powerful song “1944”.

Ukraine, along with Sweden, is among the most successful countries in Eurovision history during the 21st century. The country has claimed three victories: In 2004 with Ruslana and her song “Wild Dances”, in 2016 with Jamala and her song “1944”, and in 2022 with Kalush Orchestra and their song “Stefania”. Additionally, Ukraine has twice finished in second place and twice in third place. Remarkably, it has never failed to qualify for the Grand Final, making it the only country to hold this record besides Luxembourg, which returned to the contest in 2024.
