Despite not being included among the “Selecția Națională 2026” ten finalists, WRS has received a second chance via the Wildcard stage, where one additional song will secure a place in the Selecția Națională 2026 final.

On Thursday, the Romanian national broadcaster published the list of ten songs advancing to the final. However, one particularly prominent name was absent: WRS. Romania’s Eurovision 2022 representative was not selected by the jury committee for the final lineup but was granted a second opportunity through the Wildcard route, which functions as a safety net.

The singer, who rose to prominence within the Eurovision community with the song “Llamame“, is now competing for the final remaining ticket. By Sunday, one additional song will be selected from five remaining candidates still in contention. The entry that accumulates the highest number of views on the Romanian national broadcaster’s official YouTube channel will claim the last spot in the “Selecția Națională 2026” final.

Who is in the Lead?

At present, Antonio Pican leads the view count with “Humans“, rather than WRS. After WRS maintained the top position for two consecutive days, Antonio managed to overtake him a development that sparked considerable discussion online. Some viewers have raised concerns, suggesting the possibility of artificially inflated views. Reports have circulated describing an unusual spike in viewing figures during the night between Friday and Saturday, a surge that significantly widened the gap between the two competitors. Whether the national broadcaster will address these claims and validate the results as they stand remains unclear. Greater clarity is expected tomorrow.

How Will Romania’s Eurovision Entry Be Selected?

After an intensive audition phase lasting approximately one week, followed by three national semi-final days, a professional committee appointed by Romania’s national broadcaster TVR selected ten songs from a pool of 101 submissions to proceed to the national final.

On March 4th, the national final will be broadcast live, featuring performances of all 11 competing entries. At the conclusion of the show, the winner and Romania’s entry for Eurovision 2026  will be determined exclusively by the jury panel. The selection process will not include any public or audience voting.

Romania at Eurovision 2023

D.G.T (Off and On)” is the name of the song performed by Theodor Andrei, who represented Romania in the second semi-final of Eurovision 2023, held in Liverpool, United Kingdom. The song placed last in its semi-final with zero points, sharing a tie with San Marino. This was the first time Romania finished last and received no points in the competition.

Eurovision 2026: This will be Romania’s 25th participation in Eurovision. Romania joined the contest in 1994 and achieved its best result both in Eurovision 2005 and Eurovision 2010 when Romania finished in third place.
