Editorial Picks: Who Should Represent Greece?

Avi Zaikaner: First Place – Atikin – “Deganti žemelė”

The song “Deganti žemelė” is a decent track that blends folk elements with modern Lithuanian hip-hop. It slightly reminds me of ״Stefania״ by Kalush Orchestra, which won Eurovision Song Contest 2022 – but this one is definitely much weaker. It’s not as powerful, not as captivating, and it doesn’t feel musically or visually interesting enough.

Still, it’s probably the most reasonable option in this year’s Lithuanian national selection, which is overall quite underwhelming. At this rate, it doesn’t look like Lithuania is heading for a high result this year. Shame…

Adiel Shtainmetz: First Place SHWR “Contact”

A pretty solid Lithuanian national selection this year. My top spot was a tough call between “!Contact” and “Grįšim.” In the end, I went with SHWR and “Contact!”. It’s built in a really unconventional way, with interesting twists that totally make it stand out. SHWR actually has a decent shot at winning the national final, and I really hope it happens!

Ofek Jerassi: First Place – Lolita Zero – “Salve in meum mundum”

Lithuania’s selection this year is pretty decent overall. My winner is Lolita Zero with “Salve in meum mundum”, or in English, “Welcome to My World.” I’m usually not the biggest drag queen fan, but I really connect with Lolita Zero’s concept. She’s funny, charismatic, and even if her voice is a bit… crow-like, her songs are catchy and very well-produced! If we’re talking about quality trolling, this is it. And definitely not the Greek “Ferto״.

Oscar Diefenthal: First Place – Rug!le – “Ikona Žemaitė”

My clear winner in Lithuania this year is Rug!le with “Ikona Žemaitė.” It’s powerful, bold, and full of confidence, carrying a strong feminist message wrapped in a fresh, hypnotic production. Rug!le blends emotion, drama, and modernity perfectly, this is a song that truly feels made for the big European stage. If you loved Russia 2021, chances are you’ll love this too. One of the most impressive productions of the season, with a vibe that could easily sweep Europe, and maybe even win.

Talor Fishler: First Place – Black Biceps – “Let Me Cook”

In a national final where some songs honestly made me wonder how they were even considered the best in their heats, there were still a few real gems. Black Biceps definitely cooked up a winning dish. Sure, maybe it’s not the most vocally impressive or high-quality song of the season, but the mix of upbeat, modern music and the hilarious nonsense lyrics about food is simply irresistible. In the end, this song reminds us that sometimes we need to remember we’re the chefs of our own future, and of the pasta we eat.

Rachel Geron: First Place Lolita Zero – “Salve in meum mundum”

Ugh, what a weak national final. The only song I wouldn’t mind listening to again is Lolita Zero’s. It’s fun, it’s different, and the staging is just excellent. From the outfits to the screen, everything feels polished and precise, and the choreography really frames the whole performance perfectly. I’m pretty sure that if this makes it to Eurovision, it’ll be the strongest performance Lithuania could possibly deliver this year.

Maor Heumann: First Place – Lolita Zero – “Salve in meum mundum”

She did it again! Lolita Zero, Lithuania’s number one drag queen, comes with a winning song in English and Latinת and this time, it has to be hers. There are strong competitors this year, and a few bizarre acts trying to steal the spotlight, but no one does it like she does. When she sings for all the outsiders and weirdos, “You’ll beg me to leave but I will stay forever,” I just want to reply: I’m begging you to stay! Lithuania, don’t disappoint me.

Neta Geffen: First Place Rug!le – “Ikona Žemaitė”

I chose “Ikona Žemaitė” because it brings a statement and a strong identity that you don’t see in every Lithuanian Eurovision entry. It’s an intriguing mix of cultural elements and electronic music, delivered with tons of character and presence. The Lithuanian language really elevates the song, and after three Eurovision songs in Lithuanian, I can safely say it’s becoming one of my favorite languages on the Eurovision stage. To me, this would be a choice that honors Lithuania’s cultural roots while still sounding modern and relevant.

Aviad Berger: First Place – Atikin – “Deganti žemelė”

I usually don’t come into the Lithuanian national final with high expectations, and this year I didn’t listen to any of the songs before the final either. But wow, Lithuania really delivered this time! There’s no obvious Eurovision winner here, but there are definitely some great songs and artists I’ll keep listening to even after the national final. My winner is Atikin, I think his song is excellent, unique, and could bring Lithuania a really solid result. I also want to shout out my second and third places, SHWR and Nora Blue, I can’t believe Nora almost missed the final. Good luck, Lithuania, don’t mess it up on Friday.

Roi Ben Hoor: First Place Nøra Blu – “Hold My Own”

This year’s Lithuanian national final is, to put it mildly, pretty weak and disappointing. Out of a sea of not-so-great options, “Hold My Own” by Nøra Blu stands out mostly as the “least bad”, or rather, the most normal and decent song in the lineup. It’s not some groundbreaking masterpiece that’s going to reinvent Eurovision, but compared to the rest of Lithuania’s rather exhausting selection, it actually feels relatively current and simply pleasant to listen to. The production is modern, and it flows nicely. That said, let’s be realistic: even though it’s definitely my favorite out of what this national final has to offer, I’m not convinced it has the edge or the stage presence needed to survive the semi-final and make it to the Grand Final in Vienna. Still, for Lithuania this year – it’s probably the only logical choice.

Talya Raviv: First Place Paulė – “Sako”

I was really disappointed with the Lithuanian national final this year, I’d even say it’s my least favorite out of all the national selections. Paulė’s song was the only one I somehow managed to connect with. Her vocals were great, the song had a solid rhythm, and it built up nicely as it went on. Unfortunately, I just can’t see Lithuania making it to the Eurovision final this year. Hopefully, they’ll come back with a stronger selection next time.

Noy Yehoyada: First Place Noy – “Stand Up”

I chose Noy’s song, and if you didn’t notice, my name is Noy too, so why not? Last year I was really hoping he’d win, but unfortunately that didn’t happen. So this year I’m coming in with renewed hope to see him in Vienna as Lithuania’s Eurovision representative!

Maayan Eli: First Place – Atikin – “Deganti žemelė”

There was only one truly good song in the Lithuanian national final, and that was “Deganti žemelė” by Atikin, and it’s genuinely excellent. I had a tough battle deciding the lower spots in my ranking, but in the end only one song can be chosen, and I really hope the Lithuanians go with Atikin because, honestly, he’s the best option. It falls right into one of my favorite Eurovision genres, theatrical cult-style staging, which has only become more popular over the years, and it also incorporates rap. The two blend together perfectly without sounding like two completely different songs. Of course, I always prefer hearing songs in their native language, and Lithuanian sounds really pleasant here. It’s an ethno-modern, catchy track with a mostly fast tempo and tons of energy. There’s definite staging potential that wasn’t fully realized in the national final, but hopefully it would get a serious upgrade for the Eurovision stage.

Tal Dahan: First Place – Rug!le – “Ikona Žemaitė”

The Lithuanian national final is very surprising, I’m still not sure whether in a good way or a bad way, but it’s definitely unique and anything but generic. I chose Rug!le for first place simply because her song stood out to me above the others, and I found the performance highly entertaining. As a member of the band Eurofalsh, I know how to appreciate a high-quality “troll” entry, even though they don’t usually rank at the very top for me. But this time, I actually liked quite a few of them, and when credit is due, it’s due.

Shahar “Chacha” Asido: First Place Vilnius Voices – “Grįšim”

Vilnius Vibes song feels the most unique and bizarre to meת and of course that instantly makes it intriguing. I’m really curious to see what they could bring to the Eurovision stage. Besides the fact that it’s in the native language, which is always a big plus, it could really help Lithuania stand out from the rest of the selected songs this year.

Lithuania at Eurovision 2025:

The song finished sixth in the second semi-final with 103 points, qualified for the final, and ultimately placed 16th with 96 points. This marks Lithuania’s longest streak of consecutive qualifications to the Eurovision final, as the country reached the final for the fifth year in a row.
