International Bulgarian star DARA, who brought Bulgaria a historic victory at Eurovision 2026 in Vienna with the hit “Bangaranga“, has chosen to pause the race for a moment. In a candid, sharp series of messages published via stories on her Instagram account, the singer shared with her hundreds of thousands of followers her decision to take a step back from the world of social media, while criticizing instant gratification culture and the pressure exerted on artists.
“Stepping Away Is How I Stay Focused”
The singer clarified immediately at the start that the decision does not stem from a crisis, but rather from a conscious desire to protect her creative space:
“I need to detox my brain from everything for a minute, especially social media, so I’m taking some time off. Honestly, staying away is how I stay locked in. It’s how I protect my focus and actually get things done. My music is hot, I’m healthy, my body feels good, and my mental health is strong. I just need rest, space, silence.”
DARA addressed directly the messages and reactions she received from various parties and fans, who attempted to pressure her into releasing new material at a dizzying pace:
“I’m learning not to react to messages like: ‘Drop music or people will forget you.’ If you’re my fans, please don’t try to put fear in my heart. “Ya girl built a whole label in two months, so you can imagine what’s been going on behind the scenes. Or maybe you can’t, and that’s okay too. I’ve been making some very big decisions in a very short amount of time. We have a plan, we have a mission, we have the vision, and we have a lot of music ready to go.”
