Cyprus is preparing to select its Eurovision 2027 representative next week, reportedly, from a six-candidate list

The race to represent Cyprus at Eurovision 2027 has reached a significant stage. Major record labels in Greece and Cyprus have submitted their official proposals to the Cypriot national broadcaster CyBC, outlining their preferred candidates for the 71st Eurovision Song Contest, scheduled to take place on May 11th, 13th and 15th, 2027, in Burgas, Bulgaria.

The list, first reported by our Greek friends and colleagues at Eurovisionfun, features six familiar names with prominent profiles in the local and international music industries: Josephine, Anastasios Rammos, Charis Savva, Evangelia, Katerina Stikoudi and Giorgos Perris.

Each candidate has their own track record. Savva represented Cyprus at Eurovision 2008, while Evangelia is well known to Eurovision fans following her numerous attempts to enter the Greek and Cypriot selection processes over the past decade. It is worth recalling that Josephine and Perris were also considered strong contenders to represent Cyprus at Eurovision last year, but Antigoni was ultimately announced as the country’s representative in a surprise decision.

The committee responsible for selecting Cyprus’ Eurovision 2027 representative is expected to meet this week and make its final decision. Cyprus is expected to involve the public in choosing the song this year, through an internal selection process that will most likely be organised for the artist selected this week. Cyprus is also expected to become the first country to choose its Eurovision entry this year, continuing its recent tradition of announcing its representatives well ahead of the contest.

Cyprus at Eurovision 2026

“JALLA” (in English: “More”) is the song that was performed by the singer Antigoni, who represented Cyprus in the grand final of the Eurovision Song Contest in Vienna, Austria. Cyprus qualified for the final from the second semi-final and finished 19th in the grand final, scoring 75 points.

Eurovision 2027: This will be Cyprus’s 43rd participation in Eurovision. Cyprus joined the competition in 1981 and achieved its best result in Eurovision 2018 when singer Eleni Foureira finished in second place with the song “Fuego”.
