RTL confirms 821 song submissions for Luxembourg Song Contest 2027, a tenfold increase compared to the previous two editions.
Following RTL’s confirmation of Luxembourg’s participation in Eurovision 2027 and its decision to use the Luxembourg Song Contest format to select its representative and song, the national broadcaster has announced that 821 songs have been submitted for the competition.
This represents a dramatic increase compared to the previous two editions. In 2026, 83 songs were submitted to the Luxembourg Song Contest, while the 2025 edition received 79 submissions. This means the number of entries has increased by almost tenfold compared to last year and 2025.
Last week, 80 artists performed before the judging panel. Following a rigorous evaluation, only 12 contestants received the anticipated call and were invited back to the RTL City complex, where they were informed of their advancement to the next stage.
Elisabeth Conter, project manager for RTL, shared:
“We noticed already during the auditions that the change in the selection structure allowed us to discover completely new faces. These are people we haven’t met before, who decided to take part precisely because they were allowed to perform a cover. Now the goal is to find songs for these artists that fit the Eurovision world.”

Counting Down: When Will We Hear the Songs and Who Will Reach the Final?
The selection process for Luxembourg’s Eurovision entry is divided into three stages: the selection of potential candidates, the song screening process, and the decisive “Song Matching Workshop”.
Following the closure of the submission window yesterday (October 29th), the next stage will be the Song Matching Workshop. During this phase, the 12 selected candidates will be paired with songs written by Eurovision experts and professional songwriters, whose names are expected to be revealed at a later date.
This newly introduced workshop is designed as a creative matching process centred around the selected artists. Its goal is to identify the most promising artist-song combination, with strong Eurovision potential, and give Luxembourg the best possible chance of achieving a successful result in the competition.
The Final List Will Be Revealed in Mid-November!
The final list of finalists will be announced following the matching workshop, planned to take place in early November. The finalists will perform at the Luxembourg Song Contest at the Rockhal venue on January 30th, 2027. Ticket sales for the LSC will open in early December, and the winner of the contest will represent Luxembourg on the big stage at Eurovision 2027. Exactly how many artists will compete in the local selection? Currently, that remains unknown.
