This marks a minor increase from the previous year, which featured 35 participants. Could Spain and Additional Countries Still Return?
Most Eurovision experts and fans were expecting a notable increase in participation, with estimates ranging between 37 and 39 countries. However, the final figure stands at 36 following Czechia’s withdrawal, the cancellation of the Netherlands’ return, and ongoing boycotts from Ireland and Iceland over Israel’s participation.
On the other hand, Spain, Hungary, and Slovenia may still potentially join the lineup, as the EBU has granted national broadcasters RTVE, MTVA, and RTVSLO an extension until December to make a final decision on their participation.
