ERT confirms the dates for Sing for Greece 2027, with two semi-finals and a grand final in Thessaloniki ahead of Eurovision.
Greece has officially confirmed the schedule for its national selection for Eurovision 2027. The Greek national broadcaster ERT announced the dates for “Sing for Greece 2027”, which will take place in Thessaloniki. The details were revealed live this morning on ERT1’s morning programme “Norís Norís” by journalist Kelly Vranaki. According to the updated schedule, the first semi-final will take place on Tuesday, February 9th, 2027, followed by the second semi-final on Thursday, February 11th. The grand final is scheduled for Saturday evening, February 13th.
ERT Adjusts the National Selection Schedule
The confirmed dates mark a change from ERT’s initial plans. The national broadcaster had initially considered holding the competition across three consecutive days, but this arrangement presented significant technical and logistical challenges for the production teams.
As a result, ERT decided to return to the traditional format of national selection broadcasts, with a rest day between the live shows. The revised schedule is intended to give contestants time to rest while allowing the production teams to prepare the technical elements required for each broadcast.
With the dates now confirmed, the main outstanding question is which venue will host the shows. ERT has yet to issue an official announcement on the matter, but the Thessaloniki Concert Hall continues to emerge as the leading candidate to host the large-scale production.
Thessaloniki Mayor Stelios Angeloudis has also identified the venue as the leading option for the event. An official confirmation from ERT is still awaited.
Third consecutive year for the successful format outside the capital

This will be the third consecutive year in which the Greek national broadcaster, ERT, produces the “Sing for Greece” format. Over the past two years, the national selection has attracted immense interest and recorded particularly high television rating figures in traditional television broadcasts, alongside impressive viewership numbers on the streaming platform ERTFLIX.
The decision to move the mega-production to Thessaloniki reflects ERT’s commitment to decentralizing major cultural and entertainment events across the entire country, bringing music closer to audiences outside Athens and strengthening the connection with the periphery.
Semi-final stage decided solely by the public: How the format will work
During the 2027 season, up to 20 songs are expected to compete, divided between two semi-finals. Out of these, only 12 songs will qualify for the grand final. This represents a slight reduction in the number of participants compared to the 2026 national selection, when 28 songs competed across two semi-finals before singer Akylas was selected with the song “Ferto” (in English: “Give”).
The decision in the semi-finals will be determined solely by the home audience (Televote 100%), without intervention from a judging panel. In the grand final broadcast, however, the voting mechanism will change: the identity of the winning song and Greece’s representative for Eurovision in Bulgaria will be determined through a weighted combination of public votes and jury points.
This coming February, Thessaloniki will become the central meeting point of the Greek music industry, with an event expected to provide unforgettable moments and officially mark the beginning of Greece’s journey toward the Eurovision stage in Burgas.
