The singer selection process

Around 260 songs were submitted to a special internal committee at the Czech national broadcaster ČT, comprising music and industry experts as well as public representatives. From all the submissions, the representative and the song for Eurovision 2026 were selected late last year, but not yet revealed. At the start of the year, ČT announced that the act would be revealed in January, but this never happened, and the official Czech Eurovision Instagram account published several intriguing posts about the selection. On 5 February, the broadcaster stated that more details would be coming soon and confirmed that the chosen representative is a male artist, already relatively well known either in the Eurovision world or within the Czech music industry. In doing so, the Czech national broadcaster gave Eurovision fans the opportunity to guess who the act might be and even claimed that his name appears among those fan guesses.

Is the split between the reveal of the singer and the reveal of the song designed to build tension ahead of the release of an especially elaborate music video on Wednesday? We will have to wait and find out. Czechia will participate in the first half of the second semi-final at Eurovision 2026, and will hope that this year’s intriguing choice helps it qualify for the final after two years of failures.

Daniel Žižka – Who are you?

Daniel Žižka is a singer and songwriter, born in 2003 in Czechia. He has been involved in music and acting since his childhood. He studied musical theater at the Jaroslav Ježek Conservatory and is currently studying popular singing and composition.

Žižka has acted in quite a few Czech series and films and draws inspiration for his music from the world of musicals and theater. He is a promising young artist, and although the rumors about him representing Czechia at Eurovision were the strongest, he is not among the most well-known singers in the country, with only about 6,000 followers on Instagram and 1,400 on YouTube.

Czechia at Eurovision 2025

“Kiss Kiss Goodbye” is the title of the song performed by singer ADONXS, who represented Czechia in the second semi-final of Eurovision 2025 in Basel, Switzerland. Czechia did not qualify for the Grand Final and finished in 12th place out of 16, with only 29 points.

This was the second consecutive year in which the country failed to qualify for the Grand Final.

Eurovision 2026: This will be the 14th participation of Czechia in Eurovision. Czechia joined the competition in 2007 and achieved its best result in Eurovision 2018 when singer Mikoláš Josef reached sixth place with the song “Lie To Me”.
