Junior Eurovision 2026: 16 countries will participate in the 24th edition of the contest, taking place in Malta on October 24th. All the details about the children’s version of Eurovision Below.
The Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2026 will be held on October 24th by the Maltese national broadcaster PBS at the Malta Fairs and Conventions Centre – “MFCC” located in the city of Attard. This is the third time that Malta is hosting the contest, having previously done so in 2014 and 2016.
Last year, the young singer from France, Lou Deleuze, took first place in the contest held in Tbilisi with her song “Ce Monde”. France was supposed to host the contest but decided to pass on it due to financial difficulties after hosting the competition twice in recent years, in 2021 and 2023. As mentioned, Malta will host the coveted contest instead of France, the recent winner.
A Platform for Young Talent
Junior Eurovision is a talent competition for children aged 9-14 in the style of Eurovision. The contest was first held in Denmark in 2003 and has been taking place annually ever since. Over the years, a cumulative total of 41 different countries have participated, including countries that do not participate in the Eurovision Song Contest, such as Wales, which is part of the United Kingdom, and Kazakhstan, which is not located in the European Broadcasting Area.
The 2026 Participating Countries
16 countries will participate this year in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest, and they are: Albania, Armenia, Cyprus, France, Ireland, Italy, Malta (the host), Montenegro, Netherlands, North Macedonia, Poland, Portugal, San Marino, Spain, and Ukraine. This year there are no new countries in the competition or countries returning to the contest. On the other hand, Azerbaijan and Croatia, which participated last year, will not compete in the contest this year.
First Artists Revealed
So far, seven young singers have been revealed who will represent Portugal, North Macedonia, France, Georgia, Albania, Cyprus and Poland. Currently, only one song that will compete in Junior Eurovision 2026 has been revealed, from Albania, but it will also undergo a revamp. Additionally, the songs that will compete for the right to represent the Netherlands in the contest have been revealed, as well as the list of names competing to represent Ukraine.

Junior Eurovision 2026: Lou Deleuze and her song “Ce Monde” (in English: “This World”) gave France its fourth victory in the contest out of the six times it has participated. France won last year but passed on the right to host the competition. Consequently, the contest will take place in Attard, Malta, on October 24th.
