Akylas discusses a possible Eurovision return, revealing he could compete again under the right conditions after focusing on new music.
Akylas, Greece’s representative at Eurovision 2026, has discussed his participation in the contest and his future musical plans in an interview with MAD TV’s “OK! Themis”. During his conversation with host Themis Georgantas, the singer was also asked whether he could return to the Eurovision stage in the future.
Akylas made it clear that although he has no plans to return to the competition anytime soon, he is certainly not ruling out another Eurovision appearance in the future.
“I Would Return Under the Right Conditions”
According to Akylas, a Eurovision comeback remains an option, but it would depend on the circumstances and the song he would want to present at the contest.
“I would return under the right conditions, and if people wanted me and were interested, of course I would return.”
However, Akylas stressed that another Eurovision participation is not an immediate goal for him. The singer said he would like around two years to pass before seriously considering another attempt at the competition.
He added that the song he could potentially bring to Eurovision in the future, together with the audience’s reaction and the support he receives, would be significant factors in deciding whether to return to the European stage.
From “Ferto” to His Next Musical Projects
During the interview, Akylas also spoke about “Ferto”, the song with which he represented Greece at Eurovision 2026 and which became one of the songs associated with the country’s participation in this year’s contest.
Host Themis Georgantas recalled his first meeting with Akylas in Amsterdam, before the singer had embarked on his Eurovision journey. According to Georgantas, around a year earlier, Akylas had told him that he was considering submitting a song to Greece’s Eurovision selection.
From that moment, the journey developed into an appearance on the Eurovision stage, with “Ferto” becoming a central part of Greece’s participation in the 2026 contest.
Akylas now wants to direct most of his attention toward new music. The singer revealed that he has already written several new songs and is working on additional material and music videos that are expected to be released in the coming period.
Will Akylas Return to Eurovision?
Despite wanting to focus on his musical career following Eurovision 2026, Akylas is not closing the door on the contest.
A future return would be considered, he said, if he found a song that he believed was right for the Eurovision stage and received the necessary support from the audience.
For now, however, Akylas’ priorities are clear: new music, new artistic projects and the continued development of his career. If and when he returns to Eurovision, he would do so with the experience of one previous participation and a deeper understanding of Europe’s biggest musical stage.
Greece at Eurovision 2026
“Ferto” (in English: “Bring it”) was the song performed by the singer Akylas, which represented Greece in Vienna, Austria. The song, co-written by Akylas and Teo Pouzbouris, known as Freaky Fortune, one of Greece’s representatives at Eurovision 2014. The song finished tenth in the grand final, recieving 220 points. Which split to 73 points from the jury, placing him 12th, and 147 points from the public, placing him sixth.
