Australian national broadcaster SBS opens its Eurovision 2027 song submission portal, confirming an internal selection for Burgas.
The Eurovision season is heating up Down Under: Australian national broadcaster SBS has officially announced the start of its search for the artist and song for Eurovision 2027, set to take place in Burgas, Bulgaria. The national broadcaster will open its song submission window on Saturday, October 17th, allowing artists to register their interest in representing Australia, while songwriters can submit original compositions for evaluation by the selection committee. SBS is aiming high for the contest, searching for contemporary, distinctive, and standout songs capable of connecting with audiences on one of the world’s biggest music stages.
Preserving a Distinctive Sound: Australia’s Journey in the Contest

SBS proudly highlighted the musical tradition Australia has developed throughout its years in the contest, maintaining a distinct perspective and identity: from the global star power of Delta Goodrem, through the hit “Milkshake Man” by Go-Jo, the synth-metal and keytar performance of the band Voyager, to the historic appearance of duo Electric Fields performing in the Yankunytjatjara language, the vocal prowess of Dami Im, and the gravity-defying staging of Kate Miller-Heidke.
Now, the national broadcaster is seeking the next act to continue Australia’s original and uncompromising presence on the contest stage.
Submission Deadlines and Eligibility Rules
The SBS song submission window will officially open on Saturday, October 17th, and will close on Saturday, November 7th, 2026.
Australia’s representative and song for Eurovision 2027 will be selected via an internal selection process managed by SBS. The national broadcaster clarified that submitting a song or registering interest through the portal does not guarantee selection.

The song duration must not exceed three minutes.
-
The songwriting and production team must include at least one Australian citizen.
-
The song must not have been commercially released, distributed, or publicly performed, in whole or in part, before September 1st, 2026.
