A poll has been launched to find Poland’s dream representative for Eurovision 2025, revealing current leaders, a surprising international star’s interest, and the possibility of withdrawal.
Eurovision 2024 ended about two months ago, with Poland represented by singer Luna with the song “The Tower”. Unfortunately, she finished 12th in the semi-final with 35 points and failed to qualify for the grand final. A public opinion poll on “Poland’s Dream Eurovision Representative” by the Polish Eurovision magazine is currently underway. In the second stage of the survey, voting was possible via Instagram, and each of the nine remaining candidates could be given a “yes” or “no” rating. So who’s leading right now?
In First Place – Sara James:
Sara James, Poland’s representative at Junior Eurovision 2022 who came second with the song “Somebody” and later broke through on “America’s Got Talent”, is the leading singer in the poll to represent Poland at the next Eurovision with no less than 80% of the votes! The singer appears in the poll for the first time, as she has just reached the age that allows her to participate in Eurovision (16). In a recent interview with the entertainment site “Åšwiat Gwiazd”, she did not rule out her future representation of Poland at Eurovision: “I think you need to put on a show. I haven’t thought about it in depth yet, because Eurovision is not such a simple ‘case’. There, you need to think about what and how. I think if it happens, I want it to be as close to my heart as possible. Because if something isn’t real, you can see and feel it from afar. How can you sing a song if you’re not proud of it or if you’re ashamed of it?”
In Second and Third Place – Jann and Justyna Steczkowska:
In second place in the second stage of the poll came Jann, last year’s poll winner and runner-up in the Polish Eurovision selection in 2023 with the song “Gladiator”. Despite strong support from his fan clubs, the singer failed to overtake 16-year-old Sara James’ result. In third place is Poland’s representative to Eurovision 1995 with the ahead-of-its-time song “Sama” – Justyna Steczkowska, who also came second in the internal selection to represent Poland at the last Eurovision.
The third stage of voting will take place soon. This time, readers will have to eliminate two candidates from the remaining eight candidates. After that, invited experts will vote, and the top five will advance to the super-final.
The American star who expressed a desire to represent Poland:
In the last week, a surprising international singer expressed a strong desire to represent Poland at the next Eurovision. It’s 21-year-old Jojo Siwa, who broke through as a child on the American show “Dance Moms”, and released songs that became hits like “Karma” and “BOOMERANG”. Recently, the singer revealed that she has Polish roots and uploaded a TikTok performing her new song “Yesterday’s Tomorrow’s Today” with the caption: “Getting ready for Eurovision”. The song does not comply with Eurovision 2025 regulations as it was released before September, and although it’s likely a joke, the Polish television network and Eurovision pages will certainly enjoy the exposure, even at the expense of an internet joke.
Will TVP withdraw from Eurovision 2025?
Regarding confirmation of participation in Eurovision, Polish television has not said a word, and this is not the first time Poland has delayed confirming participation compared to other countries. Out of 24 television networks that have already confirmed their participation in the next competition, all have already begun preparations and announced their selection method. The Polish national broadcaster, TVP, is among the broadcasters that rarely talk about plans for next year, but this time there is no certainty that it will confirm its participation at all. The broadcaster is facing a difficult financial situation resulting from a state of dissolution, leading to cuts and a wave of layoffs.
The Eurovision topic is alive in Poland, and TVP’s withdrawal from the competition is expected to face great anger from public opinion, which regularly criticizes the competition and Polish representatives, but is likely to not allow its country to be completely absent from the competition.
