Although Poland’s participation in Eurovision 2025 is still unclear, Polish singer Justyna Steczkowska, who came second in the 2024 Polish internal selection, declares her intentions for the next contest and sets conditions for her participation.
It remains unclear whether the Polish national broadcaster, TVP, will participate in Eurovision 2025, set to take place in Basel, Switzerland. This uncertainty arises from the complex situation facing the broadcaster, especially following its disappointing performance in Eurovision 2024 with singer Luna and her song “The Tower.” Currently, TVP is grappling with a challenging financial situation due to impending dissolution, leading to significant cuts and layoffs.
Justyna Steczkowska: A Familiar Face in Eurovision
Despite these challenges, a well-known Polish singer is eager to try her luck this year and compete for Poland’s representation in Basel. Justyna Steczkowska, who participated in Poland’s internal selection for Eurovision 2024 with her song “WITCH-ER Tarohoro,” finished in second place behind Luna. Justyna has announced that she is preparing a new song to submit to TVP for consideration to represent her country in Basel. However, she has one important condition.
Justyna’s Condition for Competing
Justyna, who was a favorite among fans to represent Poland at Eurovision last year, was not selected by the internal committee. As a result, she declares that she will only compete with her new song if the audience gets to choose it rather than an internal professional committee. Her fans have been privy to her song making process and believe that her upcoming song could be a major hit. Notably, Justyna’s entry for Eurovision will be performed in Polish—Poland’s national language—which has not been featured on the Eurovision stage since 2019 when Tulia represented Poland with “Pali siÄ™”.
A Beloved Artist Longing for the Stage
Justyna is regarded as a highly popular artist in Poland, particularly among Eurovision enthusiasts who fondly remember her performance representing Poland in Eurovision 1995 with the song “Sama,” which placed 18th. Since then, Polish fans have eagerly awaited her return to the grand stage—a dream that seemed closer than ever last year. The Eurovision community had high hopes for Poland’s success in 2024 with Justyna and “WITCH-ER Tarohoro,” especially given Poland’s respectable results in Eurovision 2022 and 2023 (12th and 19th places). However, the professional committee of TVP ultimately awarded Justyna only second place.
The Future of Poland in Eurovision 2025
Justyna’s announcement coincides with ongoing uncertainty regarding Poland’s involvement in Eurovision 2025. Additionally, American-Polish singer JoJo Siwa has expressed interest in representing Poland at the event—a claim that TVP has denied.
While it remains uncertain what will happen regarding Poland’s participation in Eurovision 2025, one thing is clear: this is not the last time we will hear about Justyna Steczkowska in relation to Eurovision. She is undoubtedly working hard to realize her dream of representing her country at the world’s largest music competition.

Luna finished 12th in the semi-final with 35 points and did not qualify for the grand final.
