Melodifestivalen 2025 – What We Know So Far
This year, the Swedish national selection has attracted many artists, with reports of no fewer than 2,794 songs submitted for consideration. Thirty songs will compete in the contest, divided into five heats. In each heat, six songs will compete, with the top two songs advancing directly to the final. The songs ranked third will move to the Second Chance round, from which two more songs will be chosen. The Melodifestivalen final will feature 12 songs in total. The winner will be determined by a combination of international jury votes (50%) and public votes (50%). The heats will be held in different locations across Sweden over several weeks, as follows:

In addition, while more and more names of potential contestants are emerging, including Eurovision 2015 winner Måns Zelmerlöw, and Sweden’s Eurovision representatives in 2016 and 2019 (respectively) Frans Jeppsson Wall and John Lundvik, it has been announced that ticket sales for the Swedish Eurovision selection will open on November 6.

“Unforgettable” is the name of the song performed by the duo Marcus & Martinus in the grand final of Eurovision 2024. The duo was chosen to represent Sweden at Eurovision after winning the Swedish pre-selection, Melodifestivalen. Sweden finished ninth in the final with 174 points.
