Montenegro at Eurovision 2025: NeonoeN won the Montenegrin national selection and will perform “Clickbait” on the Eurovision stage in Basel. Listen to the song here.

Clickbait” is the title of the song performed by the band NeonoeN, representing Montenegro at Eurovision 2025 in Basel, Switzerland. Written by Ilija Pejović, this marks the songwriter’s debut at the Eurovision Song Contest. The song is performed in Montenegrin.

The band secured first place with 20 points, ranking second with both the audience and the international jury. Nina Žižić, with her song “Dobrodošli,” topped the jury vote, while the band Baryak’s “Dva Srca” received the highest audience vote. The winner was determined by a 50/50 combination of audience and jury votes.

The stage design resembles a construction site, with band members welding and hammering in sync with the song’s rhythm. The band is dressed in work attire, while the lead singer’s right side of the face is painted as a skull, and he wears a black hoodie over his head. The performance is highlighted by red and white lighting, with LED screens in the background displaying the faces of the band members, alternating with several angry emojis that hint at criticism of social media and the word “Clickbait.” As the song reaches its climax, the LED screens appear shattered, accompanied by fiery pyrotechnics that engulf the stage.

The song “Clickbait” delves into the impact of social media and internet culture on daily life. Its central message critiques addiction to social networks, the influence of sensationalist headlines, and their detrimental effects on behavior. It highlights the blurring of lines between reality and virtuality, showcasing how individuals are drawn into a digital world of sensational content, rapid reactions, and shares, often at the expense of genuine connections and face-to-face interactions. The overarching theme is a critique of modern digital culture and its influence on human behavior and interpersonal relationships.

NeonoeN – Who Are You?

The band NeonoeN was formed in 2012 under the name Neon. The members are Marko Vukčević, the lead vocalist; Ilija Pejović, the songwriter and guitarist; Filip Vulanović, the bassist; and Milan Vujović, the drummer.

Despite years of activity, their first original single, “Ti i ja solo,” was only released in 2018. In 2023, a decade after their formation, the band decided to change their name to NeonoeN to avoid confusion with other bands sharing the same name.

Currently, the band is working on a new album, having already released two tracks from it: “Dok Ne Udahnem Te u” and “Dječak Sa Vjetrom U Kosi.”

Montenegrin National Selection Results:

During the final show, several notable Eurovision alumni graced the stage, including Danijel Popović (Yugoslavia, Eurovision 1983), Vladana (Montenegro, Eurovision 2022), Sergej Ćetković (Montenegro, Eurovision 2014), Elena Risteska (North Macedonia, Eurovision 2006), and Emmelie de Forest, winner of Eurovision 2013.

Lyrics of “Clickbait”:

Ujutro čim otvorim oči
Još mamuran od protekle noći
Oko sebe se ne osvrnem
A već sam počeo da scroll-ujem

Naslovi se ređaju sami
Kao da znaju sve što mi je u glavi
Važne teme analiziram i počinjem da kriziram
Reklama kreće 5 sekundi, wait

Baš sam raspoložen za hate
(Clickbait!)
Nikad nije too late
(Za Clickbait!)
Nebitno gay ili straight
Vodim te na date ako share-uješ mi dobar

Nadražajno provodim dane
Imam razne gadget-e i ekrane
Za društvo nemam vremena
Jer svaki mi je minut ispunjen

Ratujem sa botovima
Trgujem screenshot-ovima
