Belgian National Final Format

The Belgian preliminary for Eurovision 2025, “Eurosong 2025” will feature two semi-finals. The first semi-final will take place on January 18, the second on January 25, and the grand final, selecting Belgium’s representative for Basel, on February 1, 2025. In each semi-final, four contestants will perform a new version of a Eurovision song and then their original song with which they compete to represent Belgium in Basel. After each semi-final, the complete songs performed will be published on streaming platforms. The results of the preliminary will be determined by a combination of viewer votes and professional judges’ scores. Last month, the Belgian national broadcaster, VRT, filmed two shows that will be broadcast this month.

  • Gustaph: Belgium’s representative in Eurovision 2023, who performed the song “Because of You” and secured seventh place.
  • Bart Cannaerts: A television host and stand-up comedian. In 2023, he presented the Belgian scores during the grand finale.

Belgium in Eurovision 2024

Singer Mustii represented Belgium in the second semi-final of Eurovision 2024 with the song “Before The Party’s Over”. The singer and song were chosen through an internal selection by the Belgian national broadcaster. In the Eurovision semi-final, the song placed 13th with 18 points, and therefore did not advance to the grand final. This is Belgium’s lowest result since Eurovision 2019, when Belgium also failed to qualify for the final and placed 13th in the semi-final.
