Iceland in Eurovision 2025: After the songwriter of the Israeli hit "Hatunat HaShana" appealed to the EBU demanding the song's disqualification from Eurovision 2025, an official investigation has been opened in Iceland surrounding the affair.
Following the victory of the Icelandic duo VÆB in the local Eurovision selection with the song "Róa," Iceland has opened an official investigation into the claims raised by composer Offir Cohen, surrounding the suspicion that the duo copied his work "Hatunat HaShana," which became a hit performed by Eyal Golan and Itay Levy about seven years ago. The similarity between the songs is evident not only in the chorus melody, Cohen claimed, but also in the arrangement resembling the Festigal version of "Hatunat HaShana," and in that both songs are performed by male duos.
