Shortly after the updated version, the official music video for the song will also be unveiled. The music video for “Esa Diva” was filmed earlier, with Mario Ruiz directing. Ruiz will also be responsible for directing and staging the Spanish delegation’s performance at Eurovision 2025.
The team that worked with Melody on the new version of the song spent February in Christchurch, UK, adapting the song to best suit the singer’s vocal abilities. The team now describes the final version as “continuously built and with a Spanish stamp.”
To maximize Spain’s chances in the contest, Melody confirmed that the song will undergo adaptations to make it more accessible to the European audience. “We will make some changes so that Europe can understand it better. Musically, we have room to create something even more outstanding, and I believe the final version will surprise everyone,” the singer explained. The upgrade is expected to include adjustments to the melody, production, and even stage direction to align with the high standards of the Eurovision Song Contest. These enhancements aim to create a more impactful and memorable performance on the international stage.
Ana María Bordas, the head of the Spanish delegation, expressed great satisfaction with the process and complimented the Spanish national broadcaster: “It’s an exceptional team in all departments. We enjoyed an amazing program. We also received congratulations from outside Spain, as the Benidorm Festival has become a very strong brand in Europe.” The team’s confidence and the planned improvements suggest a strong commitment to Spain’s Eurovision entry, potentially increasing its appeal to viewers across Europe.
Spain in Eurovision 2025
“Esa Diva” is the title of the song that will be performed by singer Melody, representing Spain at Eurovision 2025, to be held in Basel, Switzerland, with the grand final on May 17. The song was written by Alberto Fuentes Lorite and Melodia Ruiz Gutiérrez and is performed entirely in Spanish.
The song redefines the concept of a “diva”. It describes a true diva as a simple, brave, and strong woman who doesn’t step on others to succeed. The song emphasizes that a diva is not defined by fame or wealth, but by her inner strength, freedom of expression, and ability to overcome challenges.
Spain is currently in 35th place in the betting odds for Eurovision 2025.
