Albania’s Eurovision 2025 representatives, Shkodra Elektronike, held their first rehearsal in Basel with the song “Zjerm“. Stay tuned for all updates from Switzerland.
Shkodra Elektronike, Albania’s representative, were the fifth act to rehearse today on the Eurovision 2025 stage with their song “Zjerm“. Shkodra Elektronike will perform as song number 12 in the first semi-final, scheduled for May 13th.
Albania is known as a country that strongly preserves its ethnic identity in Eurovision-whether you like it or not. This year, it is going all in on ethnicity, as Shkodra Elektronike are building a well-planned Albanian performance, with Albanian characteristics present in every detail-even the smallest ones.
Innovative Stage Design and Visual Effects
It seems that Albania is taking the stage of Festivali i Këngës – and has left most of it behind, with the only things remaining from it being just two colors: red and black, which will play across the screen in various geometric shapes. These colors are the leading elements in the song’s staging and will appear on the LED screen, the mountain set piece, the stage floor, and, of course, the frame. The stage is used somewhat differently than usual, with the mountains in the back lowered and the front part appearing higher, in order to provide a stark contrast to the black and white lights.
Lekë will stand mainly at the front of the stage, while Beatrice will use the rest of the space for a “vogue”-style dance segment, with minor changes. The Albanian song is among the few that feature live instruments; the drums and bass will give the song depth and additional layers that Eurovision seeks.
Albania maintains ethnic authenticity throughout the performance-even in the smallest details, as Beatrice will wear a red satin dress with a corset and sequins on the lapel, sewn by none other than her mother! On her right hand, she will wear a red glove. Lekë will wear a military-style jacket with a double lapel. The overall look of the performance will be very glamorous.
Pyrotechnics and Special Effects
In terms of pyrotechnics, as the song’s name suggests, there will be plenty of fire, especially in the frame shot during the choruses.
