The Ukrainian national broadcaster Suspilne published on Instagram that German Nenov will be the new artistic director of “Vidbir 2026”. What experience does he bring with him to the Ukrainian national final?

Ukraine is preparing for Eurovision 2026: the national broadcaster Suspilne confirmed that German Nenov will return as the artistic director of “Vidbir 2026”. The announcement was made via Suspilne’s official Instagram account, where his extensive experience in television, music, and Eurovision productions was emphasized.



A Familiar Name in the Eurovision World

Nenov, a well-known Ukrainian director based in Kyiv, has an impressive portfolio in both television productions and music videos. Eurovision fans already know his work: he served as Ukraine’s artistic director at Eurovision 2023, when the duo Tvorchi represented the country with Heart of Steel”. He also directed Ukraine’s stagings at Junior Eurovision in 2021 and 2022. In 2024, he was responsible for the staging of Luxembourg’s entry Fighter performed by Tali.



Nenov’s Vision

Sharing his vision, Nenov said:

“I have repeatedly spoken about my dream: to make Vidbir a truly Ukrainian Eurovision. And I believe that step by step, even if it is difficult, with such a team and synergy at every stage, we will achieve this and this year’s Vidbir will be truly unique”.

This will be the second time that Nenov leads the Ukrainian national selection. As artistic director, he will be responsible for the artistic and visual concept of the show, already promising viewers a refreshed format and significant changes in the competition’s structure.

When Will Vidbir 2026 Take Place?

The final of Vidbir 2026 is expected to take place in February, with the winner chosen through a combination of jury voting and public televoting. The selected act will represent Ukraine at Eurovision 2026 in Vienna.




Ukraine at Eurovision 2025

“Bird of Pray” is the name of the song that was performed by Ziferblat, representing Ukraine in Eurovision 2025. Ukraine qualified for the final from the first semi-final of the contest and finished 9th overall with 218 points. Ukraine finished 6th in tele-votes and 14th in jury votes.

The Ukrainian result is their worst one since 2018.

Eurovision 2026: This will be Ukraine’s 21st participation in the Eurovision Song Contest. Ukraine joined the competition in 2003 and has won it three times. Ukraine’s last victory was in Eurovision 2022 with the song “Stefania” performed by Kalush Orchestra.
