Antigoni revealed to Cypriot media her desire to return to Eurovision, despite facing online criticism following her performance in Vienna.
ust three days after Cyprus confirmed its participation in Eurovision 2027, the country’s representative at the recent contest with the song “JALLA“, Antigoni, is already warming up for a possible return to the competition. In an interview with Cypriot media, the singer shared her experience in Vienna from her perspective, revealing that she would love to return to Eurovision in the future – despite the wave of negative comments she received regarding her live performance.
“This is just the beginning”: Antigoni aims high
In the interview, the singer shared: “Everything was very beautiful, I lived my dream on the Eurovision stage, and I want to do it again. I am very grateful for all the love I received, especially from Cyprus and Greece, I feel that this is the beginning.” She added regarding the winner DARA from Bulgaria, with whom a strong bond of friendship was forged during the Eurovision journey: “We spoke with Dara. I can’t wait to see her again.”
This statement by Antigoni indicates that Eurovision symbolizes only the opening shot of her career. Last Friday, Antigoni released a new song titled “OUD“, and additionally announced a short concert tour across six European destinations – Germany, Finland, the Netherlands, Poland, Sweden, and the United Kingdom. Like other Eurovision 2026 participants, Antigoni is utilizing the momentum to ride the wave of fame and realize her potential to break through globally, and in Europe particularly. While other contestants are recovering from the competition, the singer does not rest for a moment and is already focused on her next goals.
Despite the comments – The singer wishes to return to the contest
As mentioned, Antigoni shared that she is interested in experiencing another Eurovision. This revelation is quite surprising given the fact that immediately after her performance in the second semi-final, the singer faced a massive wave of criticism from the audience, claiming she sang out of tune and, according to many, “sounded like an alarm,” and even won the “Out of Tune of the Year” award by a huge margin in the EuroMix awards special.
Furthermore, close to the performance, she shared that she was disappointed by the reactions: “The day after the semi-final, the internet was really bad and it put pressure on me and I felt it. Because of that I was sad and felt a lot of pressure. The semi-final was not my best performance and I thank God I made it to the final so I could show the world what I can do and who Antigoni is. I gave it my all.”
It is interesting to hear that despite the criticism, the singer did enjoy the general experience of the music competition and did not let the comments ruin it. A possible return of Antigoni to Eurovision could be very intriguing, and above all, fun and upbeat. Will there indeed be a comeback? Only time will tell.
