Montenegro’s disappointing result at Tamara Živković‘s Eurovision 2026 campaign, where she finished 13th in her semi-final, has raised alarm among Eurovision fans. Montenegro, a small Balkan country with limited resources, has a tendency to withdraw from the contest after a run of poor results. In previous years, Montenegro confirmed its participation as early as mid-August, leaving fans increasingly concerned and fueling speculation about a possible withdrawal from Eurovision 2027 in Burgas.

Already last year, the Montenegrin delegation considered withdrawing from Eurovision 2026 in Vienna following the poor result achieved by Nina Žižić. Despite significant pressure from government and industry figures, RTCG ultimately continued participating in the contest.
Tamara’s disappointing result, following an entry that was expected to appeal more strongly to European audiences, has renewed concerns about frustration within Montenegro and increased pressure from certain groups to withdraw from the contest once again. However, Montenegrin Head of Delegation Vladana Vučinić has responded to the concerns, saying: “I’ve received so many messages over the past few months, and just so you know, there is an official deadline for these things. A little patience, you’re killing me! Thank you.”
Vučinić subsequently encouraged fans to turn their attention to Montenegro’s “sweet” representative at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in Malta this October, Mija Vujović. Some commentators argue that Vučinić’s reference indicates that Montenegro will continue participating in Eurovision for a third consecutive year. However, past experience suggests that a Montenegrin withdrawal remains a genuine possibility that fans and the Eurovision community should be prepared for.

“Nova Zora” (in English: “A New Dawn”) is the song that was performed by Tamara Zivkovic in the first semi-final of Eurovision 2026 in Vienna. Tamara failed to qualify and finished 13th with 71 points.
