Switzerland: 431 songs were submitted for Eurovision 2025. How will the Swiss song be chosen and how many songs were submitted last year?

Switzerland will once again select its Eurovision 2025 representative through an internal selection process, as announced by the Swiss national broadcaster in early July 2024. The submission window for songs opened on August 8 and officially closed on August 22. It has now been revealed that no fewer than 431 songs were submitted to the national broadcaster’s committee to represent Switzerland in its homeland in May 2025. This impressive number comes after Nemo’s notable victory in the May 2024 contest held in Malmö, a win that brings Eurovision to Switzerland in 2025 after 36 years.

This marks a slight increase from the 427 songs submitted to the committee last year. According to last year’s data, 40% of the songs were submitted by locals, while the rest came from other countries.

With the submission window now closed, a lengthy process is expected to unfold, culminating in the Swiss broadcaster’s selection of the representative for Eurovision 2025, succeeding Nemo. Now that all submitted songs have been received for the internal selection, several rounds of auditions will take place. Results will be determined by a Swiss jury panel, a panel representing the Swiss public, and an international jury team comprising about 25 members, consisting of international music experts who have previously judged at Eurovision.

The announcement of the winning song and artist to represent Switzerland at Eurovision is expected to take place in early 2025. Due to Switzerland’s victory in Eurovision 2024, the chosen representative will automatically advance to the final along with the “Big 5” countries – the largest financial contributors to the contest: Italy, the United Kingdom, Germany, Spain, and France. Currently, there are no rumors or information about artists who have submitted their candidacy for Eurovision 2025.
