SWR opens submissions for Germany’s Eurovision 2027 selection and unveils a new expert panel behind the national final.
Germany’s national broadcaster SWR has officially opened the submission window for its Eurovision 2027 national selection. Artists and songwriters can submit their entries until September 21st, 2026. The broadcaster emphasized that it is not looking for any particular musical style and welcomes every artistic vision, whether from established performers or newcomers.
Submission Rules Announced
In addition to meeting the standard Eurovision eligibility requirements, applicants must submit both an artist and a song as a complete package. Entries consisting of only a song or only an artist will not be considered.
SWR is requesting a finished song alongside a 90-second video presentation. Applicants are also encouraged to include links to their social media accounts or websites that showcase the artist’s professional work and experience.
New Expert Team to Oversee the Selection
Germany appears determined to strengthen its Eurovision ambitions, with a newly assembled team responsible for selecting the acts that will compete in the national final.
The panel includes German Head of Delegation Tina Sikorski, songwriter and music producer Jules Kalmbacher, and perhaps the most notable addition, Pele Loriano. Loriano is a producer, songwriter, and Eurovision strategist. According to Sikorski, he is a Eurovision legend who played a major strategic role behind the contest’s winning entries in 2024 and 2025.
Sikorski also described Loriano as the architect of Switzerland’s Eurovision music strategy, having served as the country’s music director for many years.
Joining the team are artistic director Florian Mรผller, artist manager Celina Spanier, and record label and artist manager Lilly Behling, who currently manages Eurovision 2025 winner JJ.
Germany at Eurovision 2026
“Fire” was the song performed by singer Sarah Engels, who represented Germany in the Grand Final of Eurovision 2026 on May 16th in Vienna, Austria. It finished in 23rd place with 12 points and was co-written by Engels together with Dario Schรผrmann,ย Luisa Heinemann,ย Raphael Lott, andย Valentin Boes. The song was performed entirely in English.
Eurovision 2027: This will be Germany’s 70th participation in Eurovision. Germany joined the competition in 1956, was one of the seven founding countries, and has won twice over the years. Germany’s last victory was in Eurovision 2010 with the song “Satellite” performed by singer Lena Meyer-Landrut.
