Bulgarian Eurovision winner DARA takes the stage at Sweden’s Allsång på Skansen with “Bangaranga” alongside her Swedish creative team and dancers, and will perform at Stockholm Pride tonight.
Sweden is well known for the warm embrace it offers Eurovision stars, and this week fans of the contest experienced a particularly exciting moment: DARA, the Bulgarian Eurovision winner, took the stage this past Tuesday on the traditional and popular summer show “Allsång på Skansen” (Sing-along at Skansen) in Stockholm to perform the massive hit with which she conquered Europe – “Bangaranga.” The performance, featuring several of her Swedish dancers from Eurovision, combined elements of her national selection staging with her contest routine, tailored specifically for a live audience.
A Swedish Full Circle
The summer show performance was not just another stop on DARA’s European tour, but a true full-circle moment. The singer shared the stage with part of the Swedish dance troupe that accompanied her on the Eurovision stage.
DARA’s close connection to the Swedish pop powerhouse is no coincidence: behind her winning Eurovision performance stood a top-tier Swedish creative team – renowned director Fredrik “Benke” Rydman and choreographer Keisha von Arnold, part of the team led by acclaimed director and fellow Eurovision winner Sacha Jean-Baptiste. The fusion of the Bulgarian singer’s energy and Swedish professionalism produced a winning act, and her return to Sweden alongside the local team closed the loop in spectacular fashion.
From Studio Cameras to a Live Audience
Unlike her Eurovision staging, which was meticulously planned for television camera angles and broadcasting, the performance on “Allsång på Skansen” presented a unique adaptation: it blended motifs from her national selection show with the spectacle of the Eurovision stage. The performance was specially adapted for an open-air atmosphere and a live audience, emphasizing direct connection, relentless energy, and interaction with the thousands of fans in attendance.
A Champion’s Honor and the Next Stage
Appearing on the Swedish summer show is considered a major honor and a mark of great esteem for international Eurovision artists. In the past, prominent Eurovision champions such as Netta (winner of Eurovision 2018) and former Swedish winners have graced the stage such as Loreen. Now, DARA joins this prestigious roster.
The artist’s Swedish celebration is far from over: after conquering the Skansen stage, she is scheduled to perform today (Thursday) at Stockholm Pride – one of Europe’s largest Pride celebrations – continuing her musical festival in front of tens of thousands of revellers.
