Theo Evan has been selected to represent Cyprus at Eurovision 2025, which will be held in Basel, Switzerland. The song is expected to be revealed early next year.

Cypriot national broadcaster RIK has announced that singer Theo Evan will represent Cyprus at Eurovision 2025, taking place in Basel in May. The singer was selected through an internal selection by the national broadcaster. The song representing Cyprus was written by leading songwriters. It is described as “unique and full of optimism, expected to bring Cyprus great success in the competition.” The contest entry is set to be unveiled in early 2025. Evan is the first singer to secure his participation in the next Eurovision.




About two weeks ago, we reported that the search for the artist to represent Cyprus at the Eurovision 2025 contest had been completed, and that the representative’s name would be officially revealed in early September. According to reports, Theo Evan was chosen after the list of candidates was narrowed down to two artists deemed “the best and most suitable” to represent Cyprus in Eurovision. This decision followed news from about a month ago that Eurovision experts and key figures in the music industry participated in the selection process, focusing on the singers’ abilities to perform on the grand Eurovision stage in front of millions worldwide and endure intensive rehearsals leading up to the competition.

In recent months, rumors circulated about several potential artists expected to represent Cyprus in the upcoming Eurovision, including singer Theo Evan. The chosen singer was also mentioned in our recent series of articles listing artists we would like to see on the Eurovision stage.

Theo Evan – Who Are You?

Evangelos Theodorou, known by his stage name Theo Evan, was born to a Cypriot family in the capital Nicosia. At age 7, Evan began studying dance professionally. He won numerous dance competitions, created many of his own choreographies, and performed as a dancer alongside various musical artists. Later, Evan joined his school choir and began performing in musicals, where he realized he wanted a musical career and to create his own songs. He went on to graduate with honors from Berklee College of Music in Boston, the world’s leading school for jazz and modern pop music.

In 2021, he released his first self-written and composed song “The Wall,” and the following year he released 4 additional songs. His newest song “Fading Dreams” was released at the end of August 2024.

Evan says his biggest musical inspiration is pop star Michael Jackson, from whom he took the rhythm in his songs and the love for dance. Evan mentions that he has been watching the Eurovision contest since he was a child. He believes his artistic stamp is perfectly suited for the competition and claims that representing Cyprus is a great honor for him.




Cyprus in Eurovision 2024

“Liar” is the song performed by singer Silia Kapsis, who represented Cyprus in Eurovision 2024. The singer was chosen internally by the Cypriot national broadcaster. Cyprus reached 6th place in the semi-final, thus advancing to the grand final of the contest. After a successful performance, the singer finished 15th in the grand final with 78 points.

Eurovision 2025: This will be Cyprus’s 41st participation in Eurovision. Cyprus joined the competition in 1981 and achieved its best result in Eurovision 2018 when singer Eleni Foureira finished in second place with the song “Fuego”.
