The nu metal band Blind Channel, formed in 2013, represented Finland at Eurovision 2021 in Rotterdam, Netherlands, with their song “Dark Side,” finishing in an impressive sixth place. In the years following their Eurovision participation, the band released two albums that topped the Finnish charts and gained significant popularity both in Finland and abroad. The band consists of six members: Aleksi Kaunisvesi, Joonas Porko, Joel Hokka, Niko Moilanen, and Olli Matela.

Announcement of Hiatus and Gratitude to Fans

In a statement on the band’s official Instagram page, they expressed gratitude to their fans for their support over the years and announced plans for an extended break starting from the end of 2024, with uncertainty about their return date. “After two full-length studio albums and 300 shows all over the world it’s time to blow the candle before it burns from both ends. We’ve decided to go on a break after the end of 2024, not sure for how long, but it’s time to take a step back from the spotlight to ponder what the future holds”,  the band stated. They cited the intense and experience-filled four years as the reason for their upcoming break. Until the end of the year, they will still perform at several previously scheduled shows in England and Finland.

New Documentary Series: “Blind Channel: After Dark Side”

The announcement also revealed a new documentary series set to release in December, chronicling the band’s whirlwind four years since their Eurovision participation. Titled “Blind Channel: After Dark Side,” the series documents the band’s journey immediately after their time in Rotterdam and through the subsequent years. It includes footage of band members dealing with success, performances, new music, ups and downs, and provides a glimpse into the daily lives of the six band members. An official trailer was attached to the announcement and is available for viewing on the band’s Instagram page.

The series will be released by Finnish national broadcaster Yle and will be available on their website for viewers worldwide for six months.
