Following the festive announcement and after many artists showed their interest in participation, the Greek national broadcaster opened the registration and published the rules of the Eurovision national final.
Greece has officially opened the registration window for its Eurovision national selection, marking a significant return to this format after 22 years. The Greek national broadcaster, ERT, has released the rules and guidelines for participants. The national selection will consist of a single evening event, with the winner determined by an equal split between public voting and professional judges (50-50). Twelve artists will compete in the final, with three additional songs selected as backups in case of withdrawals or disqualifications.
Eligibility and Submission Process
Participation is open to artists with Greek citizenship or those with at least one parent of Greek origin. However, songwriters and composers can be from any country worldwide. Interested participants can submit their entries through the official link, along with a short biography, photo, songwriter details, and Greek translations of the lyrics.
Important submission guidelines include:
- Songs must be original and unreleased
- Entries can be in Greek or English only
- Songs must comply with Eurovision rules as defined by the European Broadcasting Union
- Each artist can submit only one song
- Songwriters can submit entries for up to two artists
Timeline for the Greek National Selection
- Until November 10 – Registration window open
- Immediately after – ERT appointed jury will select the 12 finalists
- By the end of 2024 – Finalists revealed in a special TV broadcast
- Songs to be unveiled in special broadcasts
- Live national final to select Greece’s representative for Eurovision 2025
Greece in Eurovision 2024
“Zari” is the title of the song performed by singer Marina Satti, who was selected through an internal selection process by the Greek national broadcaster. Greece qualified for the final after placing fifth in the second semi-final with 86 points, and in the grand final, they finished in 11th place with 126 points.
