114 songs were submitted to the Slovenian national final, EMA, which will be used to choose Slovenia’s representative for Eurovision 2025 after two years of internal selection.
Slovenia’s national broadcaster has announced the return of the national final “EMA” to choose the country’s representative for Eurovision 2025. This comes after two consecutive years of internal selection. The broadcaster has revealed that 114 songs were submitted for the national final, a slight decrease from the 127 songs submitted in 2022 when the competition was last held. Now, all that remains is to wait for the contestants to be revealed, which is expected to happen in the coming month!
Submission Process and Selection
The submission window for the national final closed on November 25th. A selection committee of at least three juries chose the 12 contestants who will compete for the opportunity to represent Slovenia at Eurovision 2025 in Basel, Switzerland. The list of artists and songs is expected to be published on December 20th, with the national final itself scheduled for February 1st, 2025.
Voting System
The winning song will be chosen through a two-round voting system:
- In the first round, five jury panels will vote, with each panel awarding points to every song, similar to the Eurovision voting system. Each jury panel will consist of five members, divided into categories: musicians, TV professionals, radio professionals, members of the OGAE Eurovision fan club, and Eurovision-focused social media influencers.
- In the second round, the two songs with the highest total points will compete against each other. The winner of EMA 2025 will be determined by public televoting.

Slovenia in Eurovision 2024:
“Veronika” is the name of the song performed by Raiven, who was chosen to represent Slovenia through an internal selection by the national broadcaster. Slovenia advanced to the final after placing ninth in the first semi-final with 51 points, and in the grand final, they finished 23rd with 27 points.
This is the second consecutive time Slovenia has qualified for the final, matching their qualification streaks in 2014-2015 and 2018-2019. However, this is Slovenia’s lowest placement in a final since Eurovision 2014.
