The Czech national broadcaster announces that it will reveal the Czech Eurovision 2025 representative in five days, on December 11th, 2024!
The Czech national broadcaster, ČT, has announced that the Czech representative for Eurovision 2025 in Basel will be revealed in five days, on December 11th. This comes after the broadcaster decided to select the country’s Eurovision entry through an internal selection process this year, departing from previous years’ national finals. The release date for the Czech Eurovision song remains undisclosed.
Selection Process
In a statement released by Czech Television, it was explained that this year’s internal selection will involve a weighted voting system. This system includes votes from Czech demoscopic jurors (a sample group representing Czech public opinion), international jurors, and a Czech professional panel. All these groups will vote to select the Czech entry for Eurovision 2025. The broadcaster has not disclosed the percentage influence of each group on the final results.
Eligibility and Submission
The registration for the Czech selection process was open exclusively to Czech singers. However, songwriters from around the world who had not yet found a Czech performer for their song were also allowed to submit entries for the competition. The submission window for the selection process closed on September 30th.
Possible Reasons for Change
It is speculated that the Czech national final was canceled due to the broadcaster’s dissatisfaction with the country’s Eurovision 2024 result. Singer Aiko, who was chosen through the national final, placed 11th in the semi-final with 38 points, failing to qualify for the grand final.
Czechia in Eurovision 2024
Aiko represented Czechia in Eurovision 2024 with the song “Pedestal.” The song was selected through a national final. Aiko did not advance to the grand final, finishing in 11th place in the semi-final with only 38 points.

Eurovision 2025: This will be the 13th participation of Czechia in Eurovision. Czechia joined the competition in 2007 and achieved its best result in Eurovision 2018 when singer Mikoláš Josef reached sixth place with the song “Lie To Me”.
