Doron Medalie, one of Israel’s prominent Eurovision composers who also wrote the winning song at Eurovision 2018, speaks about “HaKokhav HaBa for Eurovision” contestant Valerie Hamaty, saying she should represent Israel at Eurovision.

HaKokhav HaBa for Eurovision 2025” is entering its critical stages leading up to the grand finale, set to air on January 22nd, where Israel’s representative for Eurovision 2025 in Basel, Switzerland, will be chosen. Everyone is forming opinions on who should represent the country at Eurovision, in a year that promises to be no less challenging than Eurovision 2024.

One of Israel’s most prominent Eurovision composers, Doron Medalie, has expressed his opinion on contestant Valerie Hamaty“She’s a tremendous singer who should represent us at Eurovision.”

Doron Medalie’s Endorsement

In an interview on Keshet 12, Medalie stated that Hamaty should represent Israel at Eurovision. He also complimented the vocal abilities of Moran Aharoni, who is competing in “HaKokhav HaBa” along with Red Band.

Medalie’s Eurovision Credentials

Medalie is not only one of the most active songwriters in Israel, responsible for hits such as “Revolution of Joy,” “Tikitas,” and “Just Want to Dance,” but he has also been behind many of Israel’s Eurovision entries in the last decade, which is considered highly successful. These include “Unicorn,” which finished third, and “Toy,” which won first place and brought Eurovision to Israel in 2019, making him one of the most knowledgeable Eurovision experts in the country.

Choosing Hamaty as Israel’s representative for Eurovision 2025 could be a wise and successful decision, with high chances for a good result at Eurovision and proper representation for the country. The representative will need not only to perform the song perfectly despite the pressure but also to deal with potential “boos”, as Israel’s 2024 representative Eden Golan experienced.

Hamaty’s chances of winning the coveted Eurovision ticket are very high, as she is one of the judging panel’s leading favorites and also receives many positive reactions from viewers at home who support her win. In different polls, readers consistently rank her in first place or among the top positions in the episodes she participates in.

Hamaty’s Eurovision Vision

Hamaty herself has already described in an interview how she imagines herself on the Eurovision stage in Switzerland, should she be chosen to represent Israel:

“I imagine myself in a big dress, maybe white, with elements that explain, but not fully, our story. I have dancers in the background, and of course, I’m singing a ballad, which will be in English and a bit of Hebrew. That’s it. No need to overload, it will confuse.”

The image she painted in her mind is reminiscent of Eden Golan’s performance, with which she finished fifth in the last Eurovision with the song “Hurricane,” but it can be assumed that the song will sound completely different and will be adapted to Hamaty’s voice and style.

Valerie Hamaty – Who Are You?

Valerie Hamaty, the singer-actress, previously competed in “HaKokhav HaBa” in 2021, finishing in second place. Since then, she completed her studies at the “Rimon” School of Music and participated in the reality TV show “Dancing with the Stars.”

Israel in Eurovision 2024

“Hurricane” is the name of the song performed by singer Eden Golan, who was chosen to represent Israel after winning the tenth season of “HaKokhav Haba“. Israel advanced to the final after winning the second semi-final with 194 points, and in the grand final reached fifth place with 375 points.
