Members of the Euromix editorial team convened to vote for the competing songs in Ethnikos Telikos 2025. Who should represent Greece at Eurovision according to the editorial team?

The Greek Eurovision national selection, “Ethnikos Telikos 2025”, is set to take place tonight at 20:00, featuring 12 contestants. The winner of this local competition will represent Greece at Eurovision 2025 in Basel, Switzerland. In anticipation of this event, Euromix editorial team members gathered to listen to the participating songs and select their favorites from the Greek national selection.

Editorial Picks: Who Should Represent Greece?

Avi Zaikaner: First Place – Konstantinos and Kostas – “Paradeisos”

Greece returns to the national selection format after many years, and it seems the overall quality is somewhat disappointing. I chose the male duet, Konstantinos & Kostas that brings a classic Balkan ballad to the stage—well-crafted, emotional, and incorporating refined Balkan-oriental elements. It is also performed in Greek. In my opinion, this is one of the songs that can truly highlight Greece’s identity compared to the flood of English pop songs that will dominate the Eurovision stage this year. The rest of the entries felt like inauthentic imitations that could come from any other country, lacking the distinctive “Greek” uniqueness I so eagerly expect to hear on the competition stage.

Ofek Jerassi: First Place – Evangelia – “Vale”

I’ll start by saying that in my opinion, this is one of the strongest national selections this year. The top six songs in my ranking are all excellent, and I’ll listen to all of them without exception even after Eurovision. And in first place? I’ve been listening to singer Evangelia for a long time, for several years now. She’s my favorite Greek artist, and I’ve been following all her attempts to represent Greece at Eurovision devotedly. So I was especially happy when her name appeared among the national selection contestants.

Evangelia, who is actually an American of Greek descent, stays true to local music. She almost always sings in full Greek and delivers strong ethnic songs. Evangelia’s song for the national selection sounds exactly like this. While it may not be her strongest song in my opinion, it stands out particularly in the national selection, and I‘d be happy for her to represent Greece with it. I’m confident that with a good vocal performance, she will finish very high at Eurovision itself!

Ronnie Glik: First Place – Klavdia – “Asteromata”

I selected Klavdia‘s stunning song as the most deserving winner in my view. From the very first moment I heard it, I was captivated. There’s something delicate, unique, and ethnic about her performance, and it’s clear she is vocally excellent and can secure a very high placement for Greece in the final. The overall quality of this year’s national selection is quite low in my opinion, making Klavdia’s victory the most fitting among all other contenders. With an impressive stage design and production, she will undoubtedly move all of Europe!

Guy Solo: First Place – Xannova Xan – “Play it!”

Xannova Xan brings the song “Play It!” to the Greek national selection for 2025, and she demonstrates an impressive ability to combine modern pop with an ethnic atmosphere rooted in traditional Greek music. The song is characterized by a modern vocal performance, where Xannova utilizes her vocal range to create a vocal magic that’s rare to find in this year’s Greek selection. The song combines electronic elements with traditional instruments, giving the song a unique and innovative identity. The song also conveys a message of optimism and celebration of life, encouraging a sense of unity and joy. The combination of these quality elements makes the song the leading candidate to win the Greek national selection 2025 and the only one in my opinion that might pass the semi-final in Basel.

Roy Moreno: First Place – Xannova Xan – “Play it!”

I had a lot of expectations for the Greek national selection this year, especially given the fact that there are amazing talents in Greece and many famous singers who have been waiting for the opportunity to represent the country in the competition for years, and finally the opportunity came with an open national selection. However, in my opinion, this selection is relatively weak, with quite tired and characterless songs, and I found myself struggling to connect even to the songs that finished high in my ranking. In my eyes, “Play It” is Greece’s most successful choice this year and the one I enjoyed the most, but regarding its chances of success at Eurovision, I’m quite skeptical. Greece – I hope I’m wrong and you’ll make it to the final!

Tal Dahan: First Place – Klavdia – “Asteromata”

I chose the amazing song “Asteromata” by Klavdia. It’s a powerful ethnic ballad, a style I love to see on the Eurovision stage. The singer has great control over her voice and performs impressive vocal runs, the song production is excellent and includes Greek ethnic elements as well, and I really hope we’ll get to see her in Basel! It’s also worth mentioning Evangelia, who has been trying her luck to represent Greece at Eurovision for a long time, and this time again with a wonderful song.

Noy Yehoyada: First Place – Dinamiss – “Odyssey”

For first place, I chose the song “Odyssey” by Dinamiss, as it meets all the criteria – an upbeat banger with rap sections, and also an ethnic part in Greek at the end that symbolizes Greece and blends perfectly with the song. The song’s arrangers and producers have done an amazing job, and I can only hope that in the live performance it will sound even better than the studio version. It has everything, and most importantly – good energy!

Shahar Asido: First Place – Evangelia – “Vale”

I’ll start by saying that this year’s Greek national selection is excellent, offering many strong and worthy options!

The song “Vale” takes first place on my list for a very clear reason: it delivers an authentic and unique element while also appealing to a broad international audience. The chorus is incredibly catchy and easy to pronounce, making it memorable even for those hearing it live for the first time on the Eurovision stage.

Aviad Berger: First Place – Klavdia – “Asteromata”

Klavdia‘s song is exactly what I expect from a song representing Greece—an authentic Greek piece that blends modernity with tradition. I believe it’s a brilliant song, and I have no doubt that it could achieve a very respectable placement at Eurovision. I’m eagerly awaiting the chance to hear this song live. Well done, Greece, and well done, Klavdia—this is an outstanding entry!

Greece in Eurovision 2024

“Zari” is the title of the song performed by singer Marina Satti, who was selected through an internal selection process by the Greek national broadcaster. Greece qualified for the final after placing fifth in the second semi-final with 86 points, and in the grand final, they finished in 11th place with 126 points.

Eurovision 2025: This will mark Greece’s 45th participation in Eurovision. Greece joined the competition in 1974 and achieved its best result in Eurovision 2005 when singer Helena Paparizou won first place with the song “My Number One”.
