Members of the Euromix editorial team convened to vote for the competing songs in Benidorm Fest 2025. Who should represent Spain at Eurovision according to the editorial team?

The Spanish Eurovision national selection, “Benidorm Fest 2025”, is set to take place tonight at 22:00, featuring 8 contestants. The winner of this local competition will represent Spain at Eurovision 2025 in Basel, Switzerland. In anticipation of this event, Euromix editorial team members gathered to listen to the participating songs and select their favorites from the Spanish national selection.

Editorial Picks: Who Should Represent Spain?

Avi Zaikaner: First Place – Daniela Blasco – “Uh Nana”

Yes, it’s another Chanel copycat. Yes, it’s nothing we have ever seen or heard. And still, it is the best and most impressive thing that we’ve seen in this national final which is full of singers who can’t control their voice.

Ofek Jerassi: First Place – Daniela Blasco – “Uh Nana”

The Spanish national selection is, in my opinion, one of the weakest this year. I feel that each year there’s a decline in quality. It started as one of the strongest selections in the 2022 Eurovision season, and this year it has reached its lowest point since its inception. Even the charming and ethnic songs in the Spanish selection were eliminated in the semi-finals, while the songs that advanced to the final are generic at best and loud at worst. The quality of performances advancing to the final this year is not good, with only one song I can positively mention, “Uh Nana” by Daniela Blasco, which in my opinion is the only song that can bring Spain a result higher than 20th place.

Tal Dahan: First Place – Melody – “Esa Diva”

I chose “Esa Diva” by Melody, an experienced singer who has been in the music industry since childhood. Her song is captivating, upbeat, uplifting, and addictive, and I can’t stop listening to it! Despite the technical sound issue (rumors are circulating that the television network intentionally cut off her sound during part of the performance, but it’s uncertain), the singer gave an excellent performance and demonstrated great physical abilities as well, albeit with a slight struggle in the high notes, but I’m sure she will learn and improve for the final. She just needs to change her outfit, and Spain has all the criteria to move out of the last places at Eurovision!

Ronnie Glik: First Place – Kuve – “Loca XTI”

In my opinion, the most deserving winner of the selection is Kuve with the song “Loca XTI”. From the song reveal, I had my eye on her song which very much suits my personal taste, and fearing it might be ruined live, I preferred not to develop high expectations. However, Kuve performed in the semi-final in a professional, perfect, and precise manner, giving a show that has no competitors. She invested in a rare performance that only makes the song feel stronger! She is unequivocally, without a shadow of a doubt, the most professional and the deserving winner to represent Spain in the competition!

Shahar Asido: First Place – Mel Omana – “I’m a Queen”

There’s no doubt that the results of the Spanish selection semi-finals were unexpected. In my opinion, this is due to and thanks to the good and less good performances of the songs. As a result, my first place goes to Mel Omana’s song, “I’m a Queen”. It’s an incredibly catchy song, sometimes it might sound a bit shallow, but it sounds good both in the studio and live. After the live performance, there’s no doubt she can sing, the performance looks good, and I believe it will look even better at Eurovision. She’s ready to represent Spain both in terms of the song and the performance, and she’s a much better vocalist than the other artists.

Guy Solo: First Place – Lachispa – “Hartita de Llorar”

This year’s Spanish national selection has been somewhat disappointing. When the songs were released, it seemed like the quality this year would be high, but the live performances proved otherwise. Nevertheless, the standout performance for me is “Hartita de llorar” (in English: “Tired of Crying”) by Lachispa. The song deals with feelings of loneliness, despair, and emotional exhaustion from continuously battling inner pain. The singer describes how she fights against herself, sinks into inactivity, but ultimately decides to rediscover herself, accept her flaws, and not let the past define her. The song combines moments of vulnerability with a message of strength and renewal, emphasizing the importance of self-love and leaving the past behind. The emotional intensity, combined with a mysterious atmosphere, a production that blends tradition and modernity, and the right staging, creates the perfect effect for a future national selection winner. While her semi-final performance was not vocally precise, I believe her final performance will be much stronger and will send her to represent Spain at Eurovision 2025!

Roy Moreno: First Place – Kuve – “Loca XTI

This year’s Spanish selection may not have been one of the strongest in recent years, but you can see effort from both the artists and the production team. The song I believe should win is “LOCA XTI” because it’s catchy, fun, and works well as a whole, even though it becomes slightly repetitive at some point. I didn’t feel that any of the other songs were strong enough to surpass it in my personal ranking, but even this song itself might not achieve a high result in Basel if selected. Overall – I enjoy the song, hope it gets chosen, and it would be nice to come across it in playlists here and there.

Noy Yehoyada: First Place – Daniela Blasco – “Uh Nana”

Daniela Blasco deserves to win the final of the Spanish selection with her song “Uh Nana” because she brings everything needed to succeed – a super catchy and addictive song, an electrifying performance, and undeniable energy. The song is filled with a modern Latin vibe that makes you want to get up and dance – exactly what captures the Eurovision audience. Besides that, Daniela isn’t just incredibly talented – she’s also stunning and has something that strongly reminds me of Chanel, who brought Spain to third place at Eurovision 2022 – the country’s biggest achievement in recent years. Just like Chanel, Daniela aims high and wants to bring Spain back to the top with an unforgettable performance. If you’re looking for a song that can deliver an excellent result – “Uh Nana” is exactly that!

Aviad Berger: First Place – J Kbello – “VIP”

I chose to rank the song “VIP” in the first place, it is exactly what I would expect from a Spanish performance, and in my opinion, he is also the best performer among the eight. I would like to mention also Daniela Blasco, who has a really good song that I genuinely got addicted to, well done Spain!

The Participating Artists of Benidorm Fest 2025

Spain in Eurovision 2024

“Zorra” is the name of the song performed by the duo Nebulossa, representing Spain at Eurovision 2024 held in Malmö. The duo won the Spanish Eurovision selection “Benidorm Fest 2024”. Spain reached 22nd place in the grand final with 30 points. This is the seventh time in the last decade that Spain has received one of the last five places in the Eurovision final.

Eurovision 2025: This will be Spain’s 65th participation in Eurovision. Spain joined the competition in 1961 and won it twice consecutively in 1968 and 1969. Spain has hosted the contest on its territory only once in 1969 and since then holds the longest waiting time since its last victory – 55 years.
