Switzerland at Eurovision 2025: The head of the Swiss delegation revealed that the Swiss song and representative for Eurovision 2025 in Basel will be announced on March 10 at 10:00 AM CET!

The head of the Swiss delegation for Eurovision 2024 in Malmö, Yves Schifferie, posted an Instagram story tonight, revealing that the Swiss representative and song for Eurovision 2025 in Basel will be announced on March 10 at 10:00 AM CET!

Switzerland is one of the few countries that has yet to reveal any details regarding its representative or song for the upcoming competition. This announcement has sparked great curiosity about Switzerland’s selection, especially after Nemo‘s victory last year with the song “The Code“. The Swiss representative will perform their song in the first semi-final of Eurovision 2025, which will take place on May 13. However, since Switzerland is the host country, it will automatically qualify for the grand final, which will be held on May 17.

Switzerland has remained completely vague regarding both the representative and the song to be performed on stage in Basel. However, it seems that even tonight’s announcement did not generate much excitement, as Switzerland is still ranked 25th in the betting odds table.

It is worth noting that it has not yet been announced if Yves Schifferie, who was the head of the winning delegation last year, will be the head of the delegation this year as well. However, it is possible that Switzerland decided not to change a winning horse and will continue with Schifferie, as they announced a national selection method similar to previous years. Switzerland has used an internal selection since 2019 and has reached the final every year since, including a 4th place in 2019 with Luca Hänni, a 3rd place in 2021 with Gjon’s Tears, and a historic third victory with Nemo.

In recent months, Switzerland has faced a major upheaval regarding the referendum in Basel about the Eurovision budget. Ultimately, two-thirds of the residents of Basel voted in favor of funding the event, while only one-third voted against it. The referendum was held after, contrary to expectations, the Swiss Federal Democratic Union (EDU/UDF) party managed to gather enough signatures to proceed.

Eurovision 2025: The 69th Eurovision Song Contest will be held in Basel, Switzerland, on May 13, 15, and 17, 2025. The St. Jakobshalle arena, which will host the competition, is expected to accommodate about 12,000 spectators for each show. The contest will take place in Switzerland following the country’s third historical win with the song “The Code”, performed by singer Nemo. This will be the third time the competition has been hosted in Switzerland, after the contest was held there in 1956 and 1989.
