Australia’s Eurovision 2025 representative, Go-Jo held his first rehearsal in Basel with the song “Milkshake Man”. Stay tuned for all updates from Switzerland.
Go-Jo, Australia‘s representative, is the first act to rehearse today on the Eurovision 2025 stage with his song “Milkshake Man“. Go-Jo will perform as song number 1 in the second semi-final, scheduled for May 15th.
Australia is one of the most intriguing rehearsals we have this year, since with Go-Jo being selected through an internal selection, we have no idea what to expect. The nostalgic rehearsal features an unexpected prop, dancers, and a strong 1980s vibe. The performance opens with a retro commercial, presenting Go-Jo as an enthusiastic salesman. Go-Jo’s boundless energy and talent, along with the element of surprise, are evident in the staging as well-he draws inspiration from the music video, incorporating bold neon tones, playful wardrobe choices, and a nostalgic charm.
Retro Visuals and Surprises:
The show radiates a 1970s and 1980s atmosphere, reminiscent of Australia’s Eurovision 2023 representatives, Voyager, and their staging. There’s even a keytar solo. In the middle of the performance, there’s an explosion of color that captures the same wild and cheeky energy as the music video.
Go-Jo appears in a white 1970s-style suit with a red-striped collar and red tie, accompanied by two dancers in red-and-white striped dresses, and the big finale comes after the “Yam Yam” section, with graphics filling every corner of the disco laser party. The performance features a central prop that can’t yet be revealed-it’s not an ice cream truck, but it’s unique and adds a fun twist to the act.
The photos from the rehearsal will be updated later.
Australia at Eurovision 2025
The song “Milkshake Man” will be performed by Go-Jo, representing Australia as the first entry in the second semi-final on May 15th. The song was co-written by Go-Jo alongside members of the band Sheppard, who previously competed in the 2019 Australian Eurovision national selection. This marks their debut as Eurovision songwriters. The song will be performed in English.
The track introduces a playful and colorful character encouraging people to enjoy life, let loose, and dance. However, it also carries an additional layer of meaning that hints at sexual undertones. The choice of words, imagery, and recurring references to the drink being offered suggest a deeper, less innocent interpretation. Thus, the song blends humor, lightheartedness, and a cheeky allure designed to captivate listeners who grasp its hidden message.
