The Selection Process
In January, the Georgian national broadcaster GBP announced that Bzikebi would represent the country at Eurovision 2026, which will take place in Vienna, Austria. The group reunited during the Junior Eurovision 2025 in Tbilisi, where they performed their new song “We Don’t Sleep” as part of the interval act. The broadcaster’s internal committee was responsible for selecting both the act and the song that will represent Georgia this May.
Last month, it was revealed that Giga Kukhianidze, a prolific songwriter and producer known as one of the leading figures in the Junior Eurovision sphere, is behind Bzikebi’s new entry. Kukhianidze previously co‑wrote the song “Echo” performed by Iru for Georgia at Eurovision 2023.
Expectations for Eurovision 2026
The collaboration between the iconic group Bzikebi and the Georgian hitmaker Giga Kukhianidze has sparked great anticipation. Kukhianidze, celebrated for shaping Georgia’s Junior Eurovision success, now returns to the main contest’s stage armed with vast experience and a string of memorable hits. In several recent interviews, the band hinted that the upcoming track will be upbeat, energetic, and irresistibly fun – a song you just can’t stop humming, while staying true to Bzikebi’s colorful and distinctive style that audiences have loved for years.
Bzikebi – Who Are You?
Bzikebi previously represented Georgia at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2008 with their song “Bzzz“, winning first place. Since then, Georgia has become the most successful country in the competition’s history, securing three additional victories. After a period of inactivity, the group reunited at Junior Eurovision 2025, where they performed a new song as part of the interval act.
Band Members and Eurovision Legacy
The group consists of Giorgi Shiolashvili, Mariam Tatulashvili, and Mariam Kikuashvili. Bzikebi left a lasting mark on Junior Eurovision history by performing a song entirely in gibberish a bold creative choice that fundamentally changed perceptions of what was possible within the contest.
Georgia in Eurovision 2025
Mariam Shengelia represented Georgia at Eurovision 2025 with the song “Freedom”. The song was selected through an internal selection. The entry finished fifteenth in the second semi-final with 28 points.
Eurovision 2026: This will be Georgia’s 18th participation in Eurovision. Georgia joined the competition in 2007 and achieved its best result in Eurovision 2010 and Eurovision 2011 after finishing ninth twice.
