The Moldovan saxophonist, “Epic Sax Guy”, returned to Britain’s Got Talent, thrilling audiences and promising a surprise duet with KSI.

Last week, a saxophonist took the stage of the British talent show Britain’s Got Talent, opening with a musical segment recognized by millions worldwide within seconds. At first, it seemed like another colorful performance, but moments later, judges and the audience realized it was an especially iconic figure from the world of Eurovision and viral culture.

The atmosphere in the studio shifted rapidly when the judge KSI expressed extraordinary enthusiasm. He revealed that he had previously created his own version of the famous saxophone segment and even declared live, “If he advances to the next round, I will perform his song with him on stage”. By the end of the audition, the contestant received four “yes” votes and advanced to the next round.

The performer on the show was Sergey Stepanov, known worldwide as “Epic Sax Guy“, a member of Sunstroke Project. The band represented Moldova in Eurovision 2010 with the song “Run Away“, where one of the largest musical memes in internet history was born.

The short saxophone segment from that performance went viral on a global scale, inspiring countless imitations, remixes, and videos, which together accumulated hundreds of millions of views. Stepanov became an iconic figure overnight, far beyond the confines of the competition. The most remarkable moment came from the YouTuber and internet star KSI. At the height of the meme’s fame, over a decade ago, KSI posted a parody video imitating “Epic Sax Guy”, which became an integral part of the viral trend. Now, with the original figure standing before him on stage, a rare moment of full-circle closure occurred between internet culture and British prime-time television.

Sunstroke Project – Who Are You?

Sergey Stepanov is one of the members of Sunstroke Project, a Moldovan band known for energetic performances and memorable Eurovision entries. The band participated in Eurovision twice: first in 2010 with “Run Away“, and again in 2017 with “Hey Mamma!“.

During their second appearance, the band brought Moldova its highest-ever result in Eurovision history, finishing third in the Grand Final. Over the years, Sunstroke Project has established itself as one of the most memorable and talked-about acts from Eurovision, both thanks to their catchy, upbeat hits and the iconic persona born on stage.

Moldova at Eurovision 2026

“Viva Moldova” is the song that will be performed by the singer Satoshi, who will represent Moldova in the first semi-final on May 12th in Vienna, Austria. The song was written by Satoshi himself, marking the first time he has ever competed in a national Eurovision selection.

The track is a patriotic and energetic song that celebrates Moldovan identity, local culture, and the emotional connection to homeland and roots. It combines modern rhythms with musical elements traditionally associated with the region. The song conveys national pride, a sense of unity, and a call for renewal and hope. Its lyrics emphasize resilience in the face of challenges, belief in a better future, and the aspiration to see Moldova as a strong, confident country integrated within the European community. Music serves as a unifying force that transcends political and social boundaries.

Currently, Moldova is ranked 28th on the betting odds ahead of Eurovision 2026.

Eurovision 2026: This will be Moldova’s 20th participation in Eurovision. Moldova joined the competition in 2005 and achieved its best result in Eurovision 2017 when SunStroke Project finished in third place with the song “Hey Mamma”.
