Eleni Foureira hints at a future Eurovision return for Greece under the right conditions, while sharing her thoughts on Eurovision 2026 winner DARA.

Time and time again, Eleni Foureira, who represented Cyprus at Eurovision 2018 with the hit song “Fuego“, is asked the question that has occupied Eurovision fans worldwide for years: will we ever see her return to the biggest stage in the world? Now, in a new interview, she provides answers and sparks hope among fans. The popular singer, who remains one of the most beloved figures in the contest’s history, did not hide the fact that representing Greece is a goal she has wanted to achieve for many years.

In an interview with neolaia.gr, Foureira addressed the possibility of a future Eurovision participation, potentially representing Greece, and did not rule out the idea entirely. However, she emphasized that such a decision depends on several factors, most importantly finding the right song:

“I would love to. It would be a great honor for me to represent Greece. I wanted it for years, you know that… I don’t know if I would do it again. It’s something I experienced very intensely… but I won’t say ‘no’ because you never know. Maybe a really good song will come along that will make me think – ‘maybe?'”

Support for the Greek Entrant and Warm Words for the Eurovision Winner

During the interview, the former Cypriot representative also spoke about the Greek representative at Eurovision 2026, Akylas, who finished tenth with the song “Ferto” (English: “Bring It”), expressing great support for his journey. As she revealed, she was impressed by his work from the very beginning, highlighting the importance of the love he receives from the audience:

“The fact that people love him so much, that they continue to support him, and that he received all this love, is far more important than achieving one good result or another in the contest.”

At the same time, Foureira spared no warm words for the recent Eurovision winner, DARA, expressing great appreciation for her charisma and stage presence:

“She deserved, and still deserves, first place. She has an incredible presence on stage.”

As a reminder, Eleni Foureira and DARA have already shared a moment in the past when they performed together on stage to DARA’s song, “Bangaranga”. The two delivered a special musical performance that attracted considerable attention and thrilled fans on social media. Another interesting link between the two is that one of the dancers who accompanied Foureira at Eurovision, Keisha Von Arnold, was part of DARA’s staging and choreography team at the contest.

Could Foureira Bring Victory to Greece?

Since her participation, rumors about her return as a contestant have frequently circulated and been debunked. She has also appeared as an interval act at Eurovision 2019 and 2024, cementing her status as a Eurovision icon whom fans always love to see on screen and on stage.

In recent years, we have seen several major Eurovision names try their luck in National Selections or even the contest itself – such as Loreen or Måns Zelmerlöw – directly impacting fan opinions, viewing figures, betting odds, and expectations. Foureira falls into this exact category: she is a star with international presence, a massive fan base, and a proven track record on live stages, especially the Eurovision stage.
