Stefano De Martino confirms Måneskin will reunite as special guests at Sanremo 2027, launching new music ahead of Eurovision season.
Fans of the Italian rock band Måneskin can breathe a sigh of relief: fears of a permanent breakup of the hugely successful rock outfit are fading. Band members Damiano David, Victoria De Angelis, Thomas Raggi, and Ethan Torchio are expected to reunite on the biggest stage of all at the Sanremo Music Festival 2027.
The first reports of the reunion emerged last May from television personality and showman Fiorello on his show “La pennicanza”, after he shared that he met Raggi and Torchio at the “Internazionali” tennis tournament where they confirmed the band was planning a comeback. Now, the rumors have received official confirmation from the incoming artistic director and host of the festival, Stefano De Martino.

In an exclusive interview with the Italian magazine TV Sorrisi e Canzoni (as reported by Italian media outlets, including Quotidiano Nazionale and Cosmopolitan Italia), De Martino confirmed that Måneskin will be among the prominent guests at Sanremo 2027, which will take place from February 16th to February 20th.
The quartet, who achieved global stardom following their victories at Sanremo 2021 and the Eurovision Song Contest 2021 in Rotterdam with the hit “Zitti e Buoni” (in English: “Quiet and Good”), will return to the Ariston Theatre as special guests of honor rather than competitors.
End to Solo Careers?
The reunion announcement comes at a pivotal time for the band members. Since early 2024, the group took an extended break to pursue personal projects:
- Damiano David launched a solo career with the album Funny Little Fears and embarked on a global tour, though according to reports in Quotidiano Nazionale, the project did not achieve success.
- Victoria De Angelis focused on an international DJing career.
Sanremo 2027 will take place more than three years after the four band members last performed together as a full lineup.
Are a New Album and World Tour on the Way?
The performance at Sanremo is not expected to be merely a nostalgic event. According to Quotidiano Nazionale, the return to the Ariston stage serves as an ideal platform for the band to launch a new single and announce a new studio album (which will be their first since Rush! in 2023) alongside a new world tour.
Sanremo 2027: International Stars on the Table
According to a report in Cosmopolitan Italia, Måneskin’s return is only part of a large-scale plan by De Martino to bring international glamour back to Sanremo. Alongside Måneskin, possibilities are being explored to bring top-tier international artists to the stage. Among the hot names raised as speculation or ambitions of the production team are Dua Lipa, Harry Styles, and even the band Oasis, who reunited for an international tour in 2025.
The New Format: A Week of Broadcasts with Two Winners
The artistic director and host of the 77th edition of the Sanremo Festival, Stefano De Martino, revealed the official dates of the competition on his Instagram account. According to the publication, the festival will take place between February 16th and February 20th, 2027, and will include five consecutive competition nights.
“My Sanremo will take a more international direction,” Stefano De Martino declares with confidence, detailing the order of the week:
- Tuesday and Wednesday: All artists will perform their songs for the first time.

Thursday: The beloved “Covers Night”, which moves specifically to the middle of the week.
- Friday – Eurovision Night: The most dramatic night. “This will be the night when the act that will represent us at Eurovision will be determined,” he reveals. “Artists will have the opportunity to bring a special performance to the stage according to their creative vision. I think this is a significant step that brings the festival closer to the international standard.”
- Saturday – Festival Final: The night when the official winner of the traditional festival will be determined.
This means there will be a “contest within a contest” – one winner of the Sanremo Festival, and another winner who will be sent directly to Eurovision, unless the same artist is chosen in both votes. Although De Martino admits that the exact voting mechanism for the Eurovision night has not yet been determined, this move is intended to allow megastars and major record labels to participate in the competition and target the European market directly, without the pressure of winning the traditional festival.
Italy at Eurovision 2026
“Per sempre sì” (in English: “Forever Yes”) is the song that was performed by Sal Da Vinci, who represented Italy, and finished in 5th place with 281 points in the Grand Final of Eurovision 2026 on May 16th, in Vienna, Austria. The song was written and composed by Sal Da Vinci himself together with Alessandro La Cava, Eugenio Maimone, Federica Abbate, Federico Mercuri, Francesco Sorrentino, and Giordano Cremona. The song is performed entirely in Italian.
Eurovision 2027: This will be Italy’s 52nd participation in Eurovision. Italy joined the contest in 1956, was one of the seven founding countries, and has won three times over the years. Italy’s most recent victory was at Eurovision 2021 with the song “Zitti e buoni” performed by the band Måneskin.
