France: Eurovision Star Fanny Biascamano Passes Away Tragically

French singer Fanny Biascamano, who represented France at Eurovision 1997, has died at the age of 46.

Fanny Biascamano, France’s representative at Eurovision 1997 with the song “Sentiments songes” (in English: “Dreamlike Feelings”), passed away last Saturday. Born in 1979 in the city of Sète, she rose to fame at just 12 years old after performing “L’Homme à la moto” on local television, a cover of Edith Piaf’s classic that went on to sell one million copies in her version. In 1991 she released her debut album, and in 1997, at only 18, she represented France at Eurovision and finished in seventh place with her entry.

Circumstances of Her Untimely Death
Biascamano died at the age of 46 after a battle with cancer. Following Eurovision, she continued performing across France and later embarked on an international tour dedicated to the songs of Edith Piaf.
