In four days, the list of contestants for the Luxembourg Eurovision national selection will be revealed. Among the singers who submitted songs, there are several familiar names that Eurovision fans will be excited to see. Who are these singers?

The Eurovision season opened just over two months ago, and preparations for the competition are in full swing! After revealing the contestants in the national selections of Belgium, Albania, Spain, Estonia, and Montenegro, it’s now time for Luxembourg, the country returning for its second participation after a 31-year absence. On November 18, the list of artists participating in the “Luxembourg Song Contest 2025” is expected to be revealed, with the chosen representative to be determined on January 25. 53 artists from 12 different nationalities have registered for the selection, performing no less than 79 original songs. The panel of judges determining the final list of songs includes Eurovision favorites such as Poli Genova, Bulgaria’s representative in 2016, and Eldar Gasimov, the 2011 Eurovision winner.

Familiar Faces in the Selection

While the official list won’t be revealed for a few days, several names have been reported to have submitted songs for the selection. These names may be familiar to those who watched last year’s Luxembourg national selection. Who are these singers that might find their way to Basel next May? The first name we’re reporting is the singer Krick. For those who don’t remember, Krick participated in last year’s Luxembourg selection with the song “Drowning In The Rain“. She’s a 27-year-old pop star who works as a nurse. However, she has managed to achieve some significant milestones in the music world. In 2014, she formed the cover band The Daydreamer. In 2017, she participated in the German version of “The Voice”, and the following year her first single, “Face Cake“, was released. Krick was considered a favorite to win last year and even won the public vote, but it wasn’t enough, and she had to settle for second place. Now, we might see her trying her luck again with a new song.

Rising Stars and Returning Favorites

Another singer participating in the selection is Rafaela Teixeira Fernandes, or by her stage name Rafa Ela, a 27-year-old singer and civil servant. She won Luxembourg’s “Next Popstar” in 2016 and then won “Top Voice Luxembourg” in 2018. Last year, she competed as part of the duo Angie and Rafa Ela with the song “Drop“. They didn’t make it to the final stage then, and now it seems Rafa Ela is trying her luck solo. According to reports, Rafa Ela has submitted no less than four different songs for the selection. Will we see one of them performed in Basel? Another name from last year’s selection is 26-year-old singer CHAiLD. He’s a singer-songwriter who has been working as a musician for five years. In 2023, he released his debut mini-album and is now considered a very well-known singer in Luxembourg. Last year, he competed with the song “Hold On“, written and composed by the team behind Sweden’s winning Eurovision 2023 song “Tattoo” – Thomas G:sonPeter Boström, and Jimmy Jansson.

New Rules and Diverse Participants

This year, Luxembourg decided not to assign songs to singers, but rather have each contestant compete with the song they submitted. Additionally, participants must either have Luxembourg citizenship, have lived in the country for at least three years, or have a strong cultural connection to Luxembourg. In total, apart from Tali, the winner of the 2024 Eurovision selection, four out of seven contestants from the previous selection are trying to return this year! It’s not yet clear if any of them have made it to the final list, which will be announced next Monday. Will the next contestant manage to replicate Tali’s success in Basel? We’ll find out soon.
