Luxemburg at Eurovision 2025: Laura Thorn will perform the song “La poupée monte le son” on Eurovision stage. Listen to the song.

La poupée monte le son” (translated as: “The Doll Turns Up the Sound”) is the title of the song to be performed by singer Laura Thorn, who will represent Luxembourg at Eurovision 2025 in Basel, Switzerland. Laura’s song was written by Christophe Houssin and Julien Salvia, and also composed by Ludovic-Alexandre Vidal – this is these creators’ first song in the Eurovision competition. The song is performed in French.

Laura took the stage at the national selection dressed in a pink dress and made up like a doll. Three dancers accompany her, appearing to move her like a puppet on a string. The lighting behind her is mainly pink, and the LED screens simulate a dollhouse. Overall, Laura’s dance gives her a doll-like vibe and appearance. She delivers a perfect performance, both vocally and production-wise, undoubtedly the best show of the evening.

The song “La poupée monte le son” is a tribute to the immortal song with which Luxembourg won Eurovision 1965, 60 years ago – “Poupée de cire, poupée de son“. The song deals with female empowerment and liberation from outdated and limiting social patterns. The overall message is a call for women to rise above limiting perceptions, make their voices heard, and take control of their lives:

  1. Resistance to traditional perceptions: The speaker in the song opposes the perception that she is a “perfect doll” who only smiles and stays silent according to the man’s will.
  2. Independence and power: She declares that she is not a marionette and cannot be manipulated, but takes control into her own hands.
  3. Changing times: The song emphasizes that this is a new era, with new rules, where women are not dependent on men.
  4. Breaking stereotypes: The speaker rejects the idea that she is as fragile as porcelain or as flexible as plastic, and emphasizes her need for freedom and independence.
  5. New voice: “The doll turns up the sound” is a metaphor for women making their voices heard and demanding to be heard in society.
  6. New generation: The song describes the speaker as an echo of a new generation, without the old limitations and perceptions.

Laura won “Luxemburg Song Cotest 2025” tonight (Saturday) and competed against six other contestants. Unlike last year, this year there was only one round of voting. Laura reached first place in the judges’ vote, and ZERO POINT FIVE received first place in the public vote, ultimately finishing second in the selection. Laura was declared the winner of the national selection.

The show opened with the national selection contestants singing the song of Luxembourg’s Israeli representative from Eurovision 2024, Tali Golergant, with the song “Fighter“, which she eventually joined them for. Additionally, before the show began, Eurovision 2014 winner Conchita Wurst performed, who also co-hosted the selection with Raoul Roos and Loïc Juchem. She also sang her song “Water Runs Deep”, set to be released in March. Marie Myriam, the 1977 Eurovision winner for France with the song “L’oiseau et l’enfant” (in English: The Bird and the Child), also performed during the songs. Moreover, a tribute performance was made to singer France Gall, Luxembourg’s 1965 Eurovision winner, with the song “Poupée de cire, poupée de son” (in English: “Wax Doll, Sawdust Doll”), performed in a new version by a children’s band with DJ Nusi. Towards the end of the show, Luxembourg’s Israeli representative performed her new song “Dear Parents“, which she wrote and produced together with France’s Eurovision 2021 representative, Barbara Pravi.

That’s how my participation in the competition came about.”

Nouveau mode d’emploi
Je n’compte plus que sur moi
C’est le signal, tu vois
D’une autre époque
Je donne de la voix
Pour déclencher chez toi
L’électrochoc

La poupée monte le son
Na na na na na na
Retiens bien la leçon
Na na na na na na
La poupée monte le son
Na na na na na na
Méfie-toi mon garçon
Na na na na na na
La poupée monte le son

Ta poupée, comme tu l’appelles
Fait monter les décibels
Elle est l’écho d’une nouvelle
Génération
Sans chiffon ni plastique
Dans ses caractéristiques
Ta poupée mène la musique
Elle monte le
Elle monte le
Elle monte le son

La poupée monte le son
Na na na na na na
Retiens bien la leçon
Na na na na na na
La poupée monte le son
Na na na na na na
Méfie-toi mon garçon
Na na na na na na
La poupée monte le son
Na na na na na na
Retiens bien la leçon
Na na na na na na
Lа poupée monte le ѕon
