The Armenian Eurovision fan club network, OGAE Armenia, announced tonight that the Armenian pre-Eurovision event “Depi Evratesil” will be held on February 16th, with the winner representing Armenia in Eurovision 2025

The Armenian Eurovision fan club network (OGAE Armenia) revealed this evening that the Armenian pre-Eurovision event, “Depi Evratesil 2025,” is scheduled for February 16th. The announcement is also based on a commercial on the Armenian television channel, which specifies the date of the pre-Eurovision. It was further reported that the event will take place at the Karen Demirchyan Complex in Yerevan. The winner of this local pre-Eurovision event will represent Armenia in Eurovision 2025.

Revival of the Pre-Eurovision Tradition

This marks the first time in five years that Armenia will select its Eurovision representative and song through the pre-Eurovision event, which was previously used to select the Armenian entries in 2017, 2018, and 2020. Since Armenia withdrew from the competition in 2021 and returned in 2022, the Armenian representative and song for Eurovision were selected through internal selection.

Armenia was the last participating country to confirm its participation for Eurovision 2025, and with this confirmation, it also announced the return of the pre-Eurovision as the Armenian selection method for the upcoming competition in Basel. The return of the Armenian pre-Eurovision is part of a wave of returning to pre-Eurovision events in various countries, including Greece, Poland, and Slovenia.

Details on the Format Still Pending

As of now, no additional details have been published about the competition format, voting method, or the contestants in the pre-Eurovision. It is very likely that the format will be identical to the pre-Eurovision in 2020, the last time it was held (then conducted as a single show, where the voting percentage was equally divided between a local jury, an international jury, and public voting).
