In 100 days, Eurovision 2025 will kick off in Basel, Switzerland, with the first semi-final on May 13. We’ve gathered all available information and upcoming stages leading to the 69th edition of the contest in Basel.
In just 100 days, Eurovision 2025 will commence in Basel, announced as the host city on August 30 for the 69th edition of the competition. Switzerland will host the upcoming Eurovision in May following the victory of Nemo, the Swiss representative, with the song “The Code” at Eurovision 2024 held in Malmö, Sweden last year.
To mark this exciting day, we’ve compiled all the known information about Eurovision 2025. Additionally, we’ll reveal what’s in store for us in the next hundred days until the Eurovision contest opens in Basel with the first semi-final on May 13.
Eurovision in Basel: All the Details
Eurovision 2025 will take place in the Swiss city of Basel, marking the third time Switzerland hosts the competition on its soil. This is the first time Switzerland will host Eurovision in a German-speaking city. The first semi-final will be held on May 13, the second semi-final on May 15, and the grand final on May 17, after which we’ll know the winner of Eurovision 2025 and where we’ll be traveling next year. All live performances will start at 21:00 (CET) and will take place at the St. Jakobshalle, which will accommodate about 12,400 people per show. Stage construction will begin on April 7 at the venue itself, with rehearsals for competing representatives expected to start one to two weeks before Eurovision week.
Hosts and Visual Design
Michelle Hunziker, Hazel Brugger, and Sandra Studer will host the Eurovision broadcasts. The graphic design for Eurovision 2025 was revealed along with the stage design on December 16.
Eurovision Village and Turquoise Carpet
The Eurovision Village will be held mostly indoors, unlike previous years. It will feature a main stage, several smaller stages, food stalls, viewing areas, and booths showcasing collaborations with various organizations. Open from noon to midnight with free entry, it will offer diverse activities. The “Turquoise Carpet” event, held every Eurovision week on Sunday, is expected to conclude at the Eurovision Village. This year’s Turquoise Carpet event is planned to be the largest in Eurovision history, according to the Swiss national broadcaster organizing this year’s contest.
Euroclub and Arena Plus
The Euroclub is expected to be located near the Eurovision Village, hosting numerous performances by various artists, including a performance by last year’s winner, Nemo, with their song “The Code“. Up to 3,000 people will be able to fill the Euroclub each day.
Additionally, Basel plans to establish the “Arena Plus” for the first time in Eurovision history, a giant stage in the stadium adjacent to the Eurovision hall, where the final event will be screened. It will be hosted by Sven Epiney and Mélanie Freymond, who will also present the Swiss 12 points on the final night.
Known Artists and Upcoming Selections
37 countries will participate in Eurovision 2025. This is the same number of participants as in the last two years, despite the European Broadcasting Union announcing on December 12 that 38 countries would participate in Basel (the 37 countries from 2024 plus Montenegro returning after a two-year absence). About two weeks ago, Moldova announced its withdrawal from Eurovision 2025 due to various internal reasons.
So far, 12 countries have revealed or selected their representatives for Eurovision: Albania, Austria, Belgium, Cyprus, Czechia, Greece, Israel, Luxembourg, Montenegro, Netherlands, Slovenia, and Spain. Seven of these have chosen their songs for Basel, while the rest will reveal their songs later, up until the deadline in mid-March.
February, which we entered yesterday, is expected to be the busiest month for Eurovision national finals in the entire Eurovision 2025 season, with all national selection competitions set to begin, continue, or reach their final stage. Many countries are expected to choose their representative and song in the coming month through a national final, while other countries will announce their internally selected artist and song in the coming month until mid-March.
- Countries Selecting Through National Finals in February: Ireland, Armenia, Ukraine, Finland, Latvia, Malta, Italy, Poland, Estonia, Norway, Lithuania, Iceland.
-

Eurovision Season: What to Expect Until May 13?
After all songs are released, the competing representatives in Eurovision 2025 are expected to perform at various Eurovision parties across Europe (Pre-Parties). The Eurovision parties are expected to take place between March and May, where Eurovision 2025 artists are anticipated to perform their songs.
Some of the main Eurovision parties expected are:
- Eurovision In Concert in Amsterdam, Netherlands – to be held on April 5.
- London Eurovision Party in London, UK – to be held on April 13.
- PrePartyES in Madrid, Spain – to be held on April 17, 18, 19.
Preparations and Rehearsals
Concurrent with the Eurovision party season, participating artists and countries are expected to prepare intensively with vocal rehearsals, costume preparations, and stage performance preparations for the competition in Switzerland. About two weeks before Eurovision week, the first rehearsals of the delegations on the stage in Basel will begin, following “Stand-In” rehearsal preparations by the production team and technical rehearsals with the stage, hall, hosts, and interval acts that will appear during the live shows.
Upcoming Developments
It’s still unknown who will perform the Interval Acts and what will be the theme of the postcards broadcast before each song. During the next hundred days, many changes are expected in public opinion regarding the participating songs and, correspondingly, changes in the betting odds for winning Eurovision. Of course, no Eurovision season is complete without dramas, iconic moments, and many more surprises awaiting us in the coming hundred days.

Eurovision 2025: This will be Switzerland’s 65th participation in the Eurovision Song Contest. Switzerland joined the competition in 1956, being one of the seven founding countries, and has won three times over the years. Its most recent victory was at the last Eurovision in 2025, with Nemo’s song “The Code.” This win follows Switzerland’s previous victory in 1988 with the song “Ne partez pas sans moi,” performed by international singer Céline Dion.
