Members of the Euromix editorial team convened to vote for the competing songs in Melodi Grand Prix 2025. Who should represent Norway at Eurovision according to the editorial team?

The Norwegian Eurovision national selection, “Melodi Grand Prix 2025”, is set to take place tonight at 19:50, featuring 9 contestants. The winner of this local competition will represent Norway at Eurovision 2025 in Basel, Switzerland. In anticipation of this event, Euromix editorial team members gathered to listen to the participating songs and select their favorites from the Norwegian national selection.

Editorial Picks: Who Should Represent Norway?

Avi Zaikaner: First Place – Nataleen – “The Game”

Oh Norway! Please choose wisely! There aren’t many good songs in Norway this year. But there is one song that can definitely bring Norway very high this year with a combination of audience and jury votes. Nataleen’s song is well-produced, dramatic, and catchy. The song encourages perseverance, determination, and belief in the ability to succeed even when things look difficult. Norway – don’t make a mistake!

Ofek Jerassi: First Place – Nataleen – “The Game”

The Norwegian pre-selection is one of the most disappointing of the season, from a grand format that I used to look forward to every weekend and was one of the highlights of the pre-selection season, it has dropped to a level that doesn’t shame the Moldovan pre-selection. Among all the songs, the only one I see potential for some success at Eurovision is Nataleen, with her song “The Game”, which is a dramatic Swedish-style pop with electronic touches. Songs like this work at Eurovision, and with a good performance, I see the song placing somewhere in the bottom left side of the table in the final. All other songs are borderline for qualifying to the final.

Aviad Berger: First Place – Kyle Alessandro – “Lighter”

This year again, the Norwegian pre-selection provides some of the best songs of the season, and I was very conflicted about who to put in first place. In the end, I decided on Kyle, I think Kyle’s song can be very successful at Eurovision, I hope he gets there! And if not, I’ll be happy if Nataleen takes it, she also has a worthy song.

Ronnie Glik: First Place – Kyle Alessandro – “Lighter”

In my first place is Kyle Alessandro with the song “Lighter“, a catchy and perfect pop song that’s among my favorite songs this season. Kyle himself is a true prince and a genuine pure soul, and holds an impressive musical creation that combines power, lightness, and deep emotion. The sweeping melody and infectious rhythm create an enjoyable and moving listening experience, making the song unforgettable. The lyrics are touching and convey a message of hope and optimism, easily connecting to the audience’s emotions. Kyle Alessandro displays impressive vocal talent in his song, with a warm and caressing voice that manages to convey the emotion in the words authentically and touchingly. His stage presence is captivating, and he manages to radiate warmth, friendliness, and charisma, which makes him one of the standout participants in the competition.

Guy Solo: First Place – Kyle Alessandro – “Lighter”

A surprising pre-selection for Norway this year and my winning song is undoubtedly “Lighter” by singer Kyle Alessandro. Kyle brings a perfect pop song that sounds innovative and refreshing and blends wonderfully with the singer’s pleasant voice. Already when the songs were revealed, it was clear to me that this is a very strong song and I hope the stage performance won’t disappoint. The song describes a journey of an internal process and release from a toxic relationship. It deals with the pain and sense of self-loss caused by betrayals and lies of the loved one, and focuses on inner strength and the decision to free oneself from humiliation and be one’s own guiding and strengthening light. Undoubtedly a powerful message, along with a song that makes me dance every time it pops up in the playlist and what sounds like a “dance break” that might be seen on stage. Kyle must be chosen as Norway’s representative for Eurovision 2025!

Maayan Eli: First Place – Nataleen – “The Game”

A song full of pathos and power. It’s in the same slot as Alessandra’s “Queen of Kings” and it’s undoubtedly a successful song. It has epicness and drama and we can notify Rebecca Yarros that a theme song for her books has been found. “The Game” has an excellent rhythm, and the transition to the peak parts in the chorus is done in a way that keeps the song varied and not boring to listen to continuously. It’s dynamic and full of energy. I’m totally buying what Nataleen is selling. I chose it because besides being a song that earned its place in my playlist, it’s undoubtedly the best in the Norwegian pre-selection and I can expect a high place in Eurovision itself.

Tal Dahan: First Place – Nora Jabri – “Sulale”

The Norwegian Eurovision pre-selection, as every year, is considered one of the strongest pre-selections in the Eurovision season with songs that enter my playlist and heart. For some reason, this is not the case this year. The songs are indeed listenable and enjoyable but I couldn’t connect to most of them as in previous years. Despite this, I chose the song “Sulale” by Nora Jabri because it’s catchy, danceable and I’m sure the singer’s performance will be special and enjoyable to watch. Also, the singer has amazing vocal abilities as she proved in the Norwegian pre-selection in 2012 at only 15 years old.

Shahar Asido: First Place – Nataleen – “The Game”

In my first place is Nataleen. Her song managed to stand out for me because of several reasons: Viking atmosphere (similar to Alessandra from 2023), the part where there are clock clicks that really add to the song and the chorus which is very very catchy. In addition, I already managed to imagine the performance of the song on stage, which made my choice easier. The rest of the songs are very outdated and don’t innovate anything we haven’t heard before, especially from Norway.

Noy Yehoyada: First Place – Nora Jabri – “Sulale”

Nora Jabri’s “Sulale” is an interesting choice in the Norwegian pre-selection, with a combination of ethnic elements and a catchy rhythm. Although its repetitive chorus might be a bit monotonous, the production is dynamic and the overall vibe feels energetic and refreshing. It’s not necessarily my favorite choice, but there’s something captivating about it that could work well on stage.
