Denmark at Eurovision 2025: Sissal, winner of the Danish national selection, will perform “Hallucination” with dramatic changes to her stage presentation. What’s changing? Discover all the details in this article.
Ahead of Eurovision 2025 in Basel, new details have emerged about the staging and changes planned by Sissal, Denmark’s representative. According to Erik Struve Hansen, director of the Danish national selection, the Eurovision performance will be entirely different from the one seen during the national final. The first ten seconds of the song will undergo a complete transformation, both musically and visually, incorporating effects to enhance its hallucinatory atmosphere.
Visual and Choreographic Adjustments
Sissal will be accompanied on stage by four dancers and a large prop—a wide fabric that will envelop her, change colors, and move dynamically using a wind machine. The production team aims to focus more on close-up shots of the singer to create a sense of intimacy and highlight her presence.
Her outfit will also evolve during the performance. Starting with black-and-white attire, she will transition into a blue costume symbolizing the song’s emotional journey and dramatic progression.
During a live Instagram broadcast hosted by Kyle Alessandro, Norway’s Eurovision representative, Sissal revealed plans for significant changes:
“I’m going to change my entire performance. The outfit will change – I’m still going to wear a bodysuit, but a completely different one, more in the style of a swimsuit. The choreography will be completely different, and the stage layout will be completely different. Everything will be different. Maybe even some of the vocal parts, but I’ve said enough.”
The live session also featured representatives from Austria, Greece, Malta, and France – JJ, Klavdia, Miriana Conte, and Louane respectively – creating a lighthearted yet intriguing atmosphere. Still, all eyes were on Sissal, who stole the spotlight with her courageous decision to reinvent herself and rebuild her act from the ground up at such a late stage in the Eurovision preparation process.
Denmark at Eurovision 2025
“Hallucination” is the name of the song that will be performed by singer Sissal, who will represent Denmark in the second semi-final of Eurovision 2025 to be held on May 15th in Basel, Switzerland. The song was written by the singer herself, along with Chris Chordz, Line Spangsberg, Malthe Johansen, Linnea Deb, who wrote among others the winning song at Eurovision 2015, “Heroes“, Marcus Winther-John, who wrote the songs for Andorra at Eurovision 2009 and Cyprus at Eurovision 2023, and Melanie Wehbe, who wrote the songs for Denmark and the UK at Eurovision 2019, Sweden at Eurovision 2020 and Denmark at Eurovision 2024. Apart from Deb, Winther-John and Wehbe, this is the first song by the writers to compete in Eurovision. The song is performed in English.
The song describes a connection so strong with another person that it feels almost unreal – like a hallucination.
